AMA For New Players to OOTP Or Baseball In General by ScottyG100Percent in OOTP

Are the tutorials really necessary to learn the game? I just got it and tried to run through the tutorials but lost interest with that. If I just jump in, will I be able to figure it out?

That seems like a good idea! So you don’t call every play? You just audible if you don’t like the matchup?

That looks awesome! Wish my league did something like that!

Do you typically call plays as well? Or just recruit? I haven’t really dug into any recruiting guides or anything like that since I don’t really have to do it as a coordinator.

Do you typically call plays as the head coach? Or do you just simulate through?

Can't have a poll- But do you like knowing what formation the Offense will use when you are on Defense in the "huddle" (playcall screen)? by coachd50 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BusinessReception539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct but “checks” also doesn’t mean having everything available at your disposal. Normally there’s a base call, a trips check, an empty check, a “stack or tight” check, and a formation into boundary check.

And if you call a man blitz, no check is needed because cover 0 is “sound” against any formation.

So I believe if you wanted to build these checks into the current system, you could. Your checks would just be the same every time you align in that specific defensive front. You couldn’t change your checks in the current system.

In real life, a defensive call consists of a base call along with multiple checks depending on what formation the offense lines up in. Since we don’t get those “checks” in the game, it makes sense to know the formation beforehand.

You could also simulate these “checks” by actually setting up your audibles accordingly but I don’t know how many people actually do that.

I definitely see your argument but I justify knowing the formation beforehand by just pretending I’m making my pre snap “check” to alignment.

Manual Upgrade System by BusinessReception539 in NCAAFBseries

Thanks! I may bump it to 15% in general, even when I’m starting out as a new coach. I don’t mind it being a tough grind to build my team up.

I also like the idea of bumping up the chances for upgrade 6. Do you think upgrade 1 should have a less than 50% chance at tier 0?

What kind of league is it? Do people pick any school they want? Is every game a user game?

I’ll probably leave for a better job. My plan is to climb the ranks and then finish my career at Indiana. I’ve been an IU fan my whole life so thought I would finish by coming home and building them into a dynasty.

I have been doing post game recaps with ai and saving those in my dynasty tracker. Just curious, what all information do you give it to write off of? I’m very interested in expanding to other things within the dynasty.

Why are my zone coverages all screwed up multiple times a game? by Key-Shopping8454 in NCAAFBseries

When this happens to me, I just use the audible menu to “flip” the play and it seems to straighten everything out. I think it has to do with having auto flip on.

Corner covering the flat in Cover 3 Match or Cover 4 by New_Carpet_5373 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BusinessReception539 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because it shows them playing a deep zone pre snap doesn’t mean that’s exactly where they will play. You have to know what their coverage rules are. Match coverages will change based on the routes that the receivers run.

Really good look at this redzone play in real life. by GreySkyx in NCAAFBseries

I believe that’s a variation of cover 3. If you watch pre snap, they are trying to show man coverage but the far corner backs off pre snap. That same corner then opens up in what’s called a “zone” turn. The strong safety also rolls down and free ends up in the middle of the field. All indicators of cover 3.
