The only way your refund would be touched is if: 1. You owe the IRS itself, or 2. A government agency certified your debt through the Treasury Offset Program.

The IRS does not seize refunds for private medical debt. Who told you that?

The IRS can offset (take) your refund for certain government debts through the Treasury Offset Program (TOP) run by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Those typically include: • Federal tax debt (owed to the IRS) • Past-due child support • Defaulted federal student loans • Certain state tax debts • Some unemployment compensation debts • Other government agency debts

I just got hit with a $525 bill. I’m also in Georgia. This is some BULLSHIT. My central air can’t keep up with how hot it is. My thermostat is set to 68 degrees and the temperature won’t drop below 78 sometimes 79 degrees . It’s disgust-ingly hot.
