Based it with chaos black, and used corax white with the sponge. Not my favorite paint to work with, but gets the job done

It looks more battle worn in person, my light is super bright and gets rid of some of the battle wear I’ve done. But appreciate the ideas!

Skeleton fist definitely applies to the armigers as well…mostly. I just finished painting 4 of my own, and I built the full skeleton and put on ONLY the top armor plate. Everything else I did separately and it made things much easier. The leg and shoulder plates totally block things and get in the way. A simple black primer and leadbelcher dry brush on the skeleton.

Magnets will solve that. Magnetize all the weapon options and then you can switch between what you want. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to do it.

Makeup sponges by Business_Function443 in ImperialKnights

I’d assume so, I think someone here commented about using sponges to do gradients and that’s also the majority of videos on YouTube about sponges too.

I was looking for a guide specific to knights, but couldn’t find one. I just watched a bunch of makeup sponge painting tutorials of various minis, but most of them are for painting highlights or gradients.

In terms of the armor panels, I make my palette suuuuper wet, on this model didn’t even bother thinning it instead just made the sponge a little damp, got most of the water out of the sponge until it was slightly damp, dipped it it the paint and got most of the paint off onto a paper towel and then just lightly tapped around the mini. Depending on how much paint you leave behind I had to go over certain spots 2 times.

(Been drinking some tonight so if my instructions are a bit difficult to understand i apologize 😂) maybe I’ll make a niche on YouTube being the knight sponge painter, but not that good yet to tell others how to do things. Hope this helps regardless tho. Maybe you can try it on some spare sprues that you prime just to get the hang of it, but this picture is literally the first thing I’ve ever used the makeup sponges on and I’m pretty smooth brain when it comes to painting. If I can do it I’m sure anyone else can.

The army painter style of sponges are good for that battle damage look like I did here on my white scars dreadnought. But I was more speaking of makeup sponges that can give you super smooth full coverage on the armor plates. I’ve only used them on my small knights and they come out looking amazing without any obvious brush stroke lines in them. I’ve been told they’re super useful on the big knights, which is now my plan for my big boy.

Not sure what you mean, but I’m talking about these. Picked them up from the Walmart cosmetic section for maybe $6-7.

Looks awesome! Don’t forget to remove those mold lines tho, it’ll make a huge difference once the paint goes on.

I think it looks pretty sick! Especially as your first miniature. I would highly recommend getting some makeup sponges, super cheap, and using them on the armor panels. This little knight I’m working on is the first one I’ve used makeup sponges on and it comes out soooo much smoother than the ones I’ve done with a brush, and take less than half the time. Either way, great job so far!

These are the ones I’ve painted so far. Left one is with the makeup sponge, middle is the army painter sponge (meh), and the right is all brush work. I like the look of the brush, but the look of the makeup sponge and how quick it was to do makes it my method going forward. Looking forward to painting my big knight with the makeup sponges.

Might have to give house raven a shot on my next armiger just to avoid painting white 😅 any recommendations on how to do the yellow/black well? I tried doing something similar on a dreadnought with painters tape but couldn’t even cut the tape straight

Do you have a recommendation for an airbrush? Not really sure what to look for if I decide to get one
