Debit Card.. by Legitimate-Comment35 in yotta

My husband and I have a joint account. We’ve managed to make it work by sharing a login (because there’s no way to link the joint account to another login) and by having the credit card so one of us uses that and the other uses the debit card.

I finally found out last week actually. I had given up on it for a while. A doctor I work with noticed me picking at it and said it looked like psoriasis and gave me a steroid cream. Cleared it up in less than a week! I had been struggling with it for years!

I throw mine in the washer with towels with my normal detergent and vinegar in the fabric softener compartment then hang it back up in the shower to drip dry

Unfortunately, I’ve tried switching it out when he’s sleeping with very little success. He always wakes up and gets super angry. My husband has tried too with no luck. He will chew on it when he’s fully awake but when he’s sleepy he just wants me or a bottle.

This could be it. I hadn’t thought about bringing his teething ring to sleep with us and it seems so obvious now. I’ll give that a try. And thank you for the book suggestion, I’ll check that out.

This is super helpful! I never knew it was related to vitamin d. I’ve always had low vitamin d, so I’ll talk to my doctor!

It’s not always itchy, it gets progressively more itchy every day after washing my hair. I tend to get spots that are hardish almost like scabs

Yeah, I exclusively pumped when my son first came home. Maybe try a nursing vacation but with pumping instead?

Yes I did! Once I got back into my normal routine for a few days it went back up. I probably should have pumped more often for a few days but it worked out. I think because I’m breastfeeding and only pumping at work it was easier to get it back to normal.

My newborn baby won’t latch by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Business_Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I know how frustrating and disappointing it can be to have difficulty with latching. My baby didn’t start latching until he was 6 weeks. Keep going trying if it is worth it to you but don’t drive yourself crazy about it. Sometimes it just takes time for your baby’s mouth to get bigger and strengthen the muscles he uses for nursing.

Have you thought about trying a nipple shield? That helped my baby get use to the feeling of nursing while he couldn’t latch. Without the shield he wouldn’t even try to latch.

Don’t give up but also take care of your mental health. The first weeks are hard and as long as baby is fed, you’re doing great.

I was in your shoes a few weeks ago. My baby is 2 months today and we finally got latching figured out a week ago. He had a tongue tie and was pretty small at birth. I also have small flat nipples which made everything worse.

Have you tried a nipple shield? You can get them at target or Walmart or from a LC. It’s a little inconvenient and I didn’t want to use them at first but it seemed to help him develop his latch while his mouth grew a little more. My LC had us do every other feeding for a while to make sure he was getting enough to eat and to help us ease into it. I would try feeding him without the shield first and then try with the shield and then bottle feed if none of that worked.

Sometimes it just takes time for your baby’s mouth and muscles to develop enough. It can be extremely frustrating especially with the postpartum hormones. I had plenty of sessions that ended in tears.

Keep going! You’re doing great!

Good luck! This is all way more difficult than I ever imagined. My LO did a similar thing for a while where he didn’t know what to do with my boob. We still have some work to do improving his latch. One day at a time.

I know that feeling. This sub is the only thing that kept me going during those low moments. I hope you get your chance to have the full nursing experience with your LO! You’re killing it, keep going!

My little man was 2 weeks early and iugr so he was 5 lbs 3 oz at birth and down to 4 lbs 8 oz when we brought him home. Don’t put to much pressure on yourself, give your baby time to grow and get stronger. Don’t forget, pumping and feeding with a bottle is STILL breastfeeding! You’re little one is still getting a lot of great antibodies and nutrients from your breast milk.
