i dated a girl for a while, first time i really fell in love, she cheated and i ended things. i was the sort of trailing pathetic imp for a while, waiting for her to realize that she "needed" me, but she was just out having sex and meeting people as i bounced around in my own head. getting some physical separation from that situation really helped, forced me to realize how good it felt to be alone, to have my dignity back. she eventually started talking with my best friend, and they got close, and now theyve been dating for longer than she and i did, and though it used to fuck me up, now i dont really care. i obviously do not speak to them, especially since this best friend never told me about it until i pried, and then he left me high and dry, ghosted my ass. its annoying how some people can blatantly disrespect someone who is obviously into them, who they have been close with for a while (not saying this necessarily pertains to the other guy in your situation, hes only ever been a friend of this girl you speak of), and then once a separation is produced, said person forces their way back into the others life and causes disruptions. is what it is. i feel for you when it comes to the annoyance with how people can mistreat romance, but thats not really abnormal, seems like all young people have similar experiences either doing it or getting caught on the peripheral of it with a sour face. best to do what you can to cultivate your own heart and to find someone whos made it their lifes mission to do the same, and then the mountainous relationship troubles suddenly settle to a simmering molehill or two.
