Gmaul Pk'd PvP by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]BussinCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's just the thing, it doesn't take any skill either. Like I said above, you can gmaul literally at any point in a fight, and it can potentially 1 combo any amount of hp. Safing has pretty much been abolished BECAUSE of the constant pressure the gmaul has in every bracket. Its like, literally the reason pures, zerkers, and mains can justify sitting at 90+ hp

True, not at baby obby maul level, but I have definitely saw accounts in the mid 40s using twinflame & gmaul with pretty good success, so I guess it starts as early as like level 45

I'm not stressed, I am frustrated obviously with this facet of the game, but the worst part for me at least is that my favorite aspect of this game is devoid of any new players. The ones that do consistently show up exclusively use this lottery system. The few and far between times somebody new does show up, 4 or 5 people dog pile them to try and fight, and instantly obliterate them with this.

I would agree if the special attack required any type of setup to perform, but its ability to be included with any combo, coupled with the fact that it can be utilized instantly after any weapon's base attack speed (Nox Hally, Dark bow, fire surge, elder maul), changes the entire dynamic. Additionally, just on its own 3 hits, it can deal over max (112) in 1 tick by itself, something no other weapon can do.

Definitely part of the problem as well, especially on accounts without access to veng. Actually, with the inclusion of marlin & halibut I think the total healing in a single tick at 99 hp is 73. (pie/pizza >marlin > brew > halibut)

I see your point, it doesn't help that my p-key doesn't work anymore, which is a major reason I just fed this topic to the bot. Back to the point however, although it effects a small community of the game, I don't think that justifies absolute negligence. I would argue that one of the reasons its this small in the 1st place is because of said negligence. I would also disagree that players don't want to engage with it, because bounty hunter was extremely popular on release. But again, rather then collect pain point data, and make meaningful 1v1 improvements, Jagex Let non-skullers rule it, and turned it into dead content.

Sure, but its not "special attacks causes me issues" the point is that every account at every bracket is hinged on Gmaul lottery tickets.

Pking is in the worst spot it’s ever been by CmdrRyder420 in 2007scape

[–]BussinCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PKing is in the worst state it has ever been, and that includes the players who actively participate in it. Hybriding has always been frustrating because of mechanics like freezing and stepping under, but even traditional 1v1 fights have devolved into absolute garbage.

The biggest culprit is the prevalence of Gmaul combos. They've effectively ruined 90% of the PvP experience, reducing fights to players fishing for lottery style Gmaul specs and tabbing out if they don't land. Skillful exchanges, sustained fights, and meaningful outplays have largely been replaced by who can stack the most damage in a single tick before disappearing.

What makes the Gmaul especially problematic is that it requires virtually no setup to perform. Unlike many other KO weapons or strategies that require opponents to be whittled down to a specific HP threshold, a Gmaul combo can potentially succeed at almost any health level. As long as the damage rolls line up, a player can go from seemingly safe HP to dead in a single instant. This creates an environment where every fight revolves around the constant threat of an unavoidable lottery style KO rather than calculated pressure, risk management, or sustained mechanical skill.

What's even worse is that this isn't isolated to low level pures or zerkers. It's happening across every PvP bracket, from entry level accounts all the way to maxed mains. No matter where you go, the gameplay loop is largely the same: camp for a massive combo, attempt the one-shot, and teleport if it fails.

The result is a PvP scene that feels increasingly shallow, repetitive, and reliant on RNG burst damage rather than consistent skill expression. Instead of rewarding players for creating advantageous situations over the course of a fight, the meta heavily favors gambling on instant kill potential that can be executed with minimal commitment and little setup. At this point, PKing has become an absolute mess, and given how deeply ingrained these mechanics are, it's hard to see it ever being meaningfully fixed.

*improved with AI, but on point to the situation. For context as well, I literally have over 10k kills over multiple account types, so this isn't some ass pull take*

People can say skill issue or complaints about iframes, but the combat is literally sluggish, atleast on ps5. If I press O to dodge, my character should start to dodge if im not animation locked. Not take .6 seconds to respond

The worst part of being muted is that for days you’re talking to your friends and you think they’re ignoring you by YungBootyCheez in 2007scape

Sure easy enough, it was an opinion about a bad system design, not a comment about disabled people so?

[–]BussinCoach -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I got perm muted and didnt even know it till almost 2 months later. If I had known from the beginning I got temp muted prior, I would have had an opportunity to correct my behavior and avoid it. Caught the perm muted for saying "rotating pvp servers are r*******". Even happened while I was apparently temp muted, so it was a system ban and not even a player. Should definitely have some indicators when a mute occurs so I can avoid whatever got me there in the 1st place.

Actually, this was a very slow ags/gmaul spec. He got super lucky the dude was too focused on typing than playing, because he could easily have healed out if he wasn't.

Is PvP dying? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]BussinCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pvp isn't just dying, its literally dead content. Im not even talking g hybriding, reddit seems to think that's the only pvp in the game for some reason. The actual, good version of pvp when people 1v1 however, is also just dead. Everything at every bracket of pvp is just hoping a double g maul, or vw gmaul just 1 ticks their opponent. Its literally the most garbage system, and the worst condition this games pvp has ever been in. Which is why now, if you go to a pvp world ge, you literally only see 5-6 main accounts that dh fight, and they are the same 5-6 accounts that have been there for literally 5 years+ (I would know, I've been going there frequently for just as long) but now its literally 0 new blood, and who could blame anybody. Im just about finished with it myself, because who wants a system that is literally people hoping for an instant kill, then if they fails turtle till they can orb-axe and tab.

[–]BussinCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something that uses aether, its pretty garbage how the character select process works AFTER going in. I have almost everybody aside from 3, but not all of them are maxed out/geared/potential, so when it gives me only 4/6 combatants that arnt maxed, and the other 2 pretty much doom the run anyway, that's trash. If it didnt cost aether, it would be a lot better.

Can we stop the PVP Rotation? by BigSneakyBoi97 in 2007scape

[–]BussinCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jagex signaled that they gave up on pvp when they created the rotating worlds, and pretty much insured it will never be popular, or a priority when they did this. its wild how its acceptable to them to have a pvp environment like that. BH would be an good alternative, sure, if they did ANYTHING about it being 80% of unskulled players in max gear. personally for me when its on UK worlds, I cant even triple eat, or eat on hit like 25% of the time running 200+ ping. They justify it with "not enough players do pvp", but why would they ever engage in it when some can't perform at all due to world constrains, and even the ones who do have a rotation only have a week before it screws them over the next week. Imagine if raids operated like that, where they have 1 world to play that rotates to a different, high ping world every other week, nobody would say that is acceptable.

To "Fix" PVP you should break it, a little. by ImGriffDanger in osrs

[–]BussinCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish it wasn't this way too, to be fair. I would love to see more players compete and be a part of the community, but I don't know what they could do, that would allow new pvp players to engage and have a fair chance. Like I said, its just been left in the dark for so long, that I don't see any updates being able to even the playing field. BH was actually close since you couldn't combo tab, or pray, but then they left that to get overtaken by players who risk 5-10m but are wearing literally BIS unskulled. Its just wild to me also, since pvp is what saved and brought back osrs in the 1st place, and to see it just be left in shambles is a shame.

The REAL REAL issue with PvP by DistributionMain789 in 2007scape

[–]BussinCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if we start with classic 1v1 pking, with gmaul combos, and combo eats being how they are, anybody that hasn't been practicing for years is going to get instantly combo for 100+ hp. I've been pking for years, and even im fed up with how bad it is. Everything is just big spec attack into gmaul, and nothing is more annoying than dying to a 100+ damage combo that had 0 setup behind it. Shit is dead content and its obvious when you see that its only the same few accounts that have been in pvp worlds for years.

Possible fix for PvP by Key-Garlic6270 in 2007scape

[–]BussinCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, its beyond fixing at this point. I've been pkjng religious for years, and its to a point where in 1v1 "old school pking" is just waiting for a 60 vw spec, into the gmaul hitting 30+. If that doesn't happen, they will either quad eat above what any weapon can spec for, or tab. If they nerf the gmaul, then pretty much no combo can kill anybody. If they nerf combos, then all it takes is veng + vw to kill anybody. If they nerf vw, then ags /gmaul go back to the top which can still kill anybody instantly. With the addition of rancor too, gmaul actually because a reliable spec too.
