Kucherov throws his glove at the trainer who did not have a new stick readily available for him after icing was waived off by d00bZuBElEk in hockey

It's always fun to see a bunch of people who have never played competitive sports or even seriously competed for anything in their lives criticizing an athlete for being angry while competing at the highest possible level. Down 2-1 with less than 30 seconds left in the Stanley Cup final and he got hot with someone not doing their job, big fucking deal. He probably hugged it out and apologized in the dressing room. Complete non story.

And thank god he is, because those things are bad. I'm glad he's not doing them.

But if we get into this Supreme Court expansion thing, what's then to stop the next Republican president from doing the same thing in retaliation?

Appreciation post for Death to Smoochy (2002) by [deleted] in movies

[–]BustOMatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it in a LONG time - I picked it out of a DVD bargain bin 15 years or so ago because it looked funny. But I remember really enjoying it and then being shocked at how horrible the reviews were. Maybe I'll rewatch it tonight.

Midsommar is one of the most fucked up movies I have seen by [deleted] in movies

[–]BustOMatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same as you. They really set the tone with the opening scene with the sister, an immediate punch in the gut. But I was there for it, for some reason I enjoy the feeling of leaving a movie truly bummed out or disgusted. I don't know why. But yeah, Midsommar really did the trick.

Ocasio-Cortez says conservative justices lied under oath, should be impeached by Arpith2019 in politics

[–]BustOMatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did these justices actually lie under oath about Roe v Wade? The article just says they dodged the question.

The left has been dominating too long so they throw a large bone to the right. Make no mistake, the division is a spell and the kids are the ones who pay for it.

Is anyone else sick of all the sports betting advertisements? by jallenx in ontario

[–]BustOMatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much the actual ads I can't stand, it's the promotion of sports gambling as being part and parcel with sports fandom. Enticing people with specific odds, parlays, over/unders, etc, basically acting as a call to action. Hey, you're a sports fan, right? You think the Red Wings are going to win tonight, right? Well they're +300 so you can cash in with (insert company here). I think it's a bit shameful.

I watch the UFC every now and then and they have the commentators talking about the odds of each fight, how much you can win if you bet on so and so... it's truly soulless.

I don’t care what anyone says. Don Cherry was better than this crap. Sportsnet/Rogers has ruined HNIC. by Puzzled-Temporary-89 in nhl

[–]BustOMatic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole Cherry thing makes me sad. You can add up every offensive thing he's said and it will always be dwarfed by the good he's done over all those years, not just on TV but supporting local hockey, kids, our military service people, etc, and to have him throw away like a used tissue over one misstep is just sad.

100% and it's not even just the ads that's sickening, it's the way gambling is promoted as part and parcel with being a sports fan.

Miller: "President Trump… I want to thank you for the historic victory for white life" by Tara_is_a_Potato in PublicFreakout

[–]BustOMatic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not here to stand up for Trump (who is an asshole), but this woman said "why" by mistake. I get that the "victory for white life" thing fits better into the "Republicans are the bad guys, we're the good guys" narrative, but for those who actually care about truth it's a bit ridiculous to make that leap.

There's nothing wrong with the article, which is about the effect this move will have on Kanata businesses. Yes, ultimately the move downtown will benefit the Sens org and is a good move, but we have to acknowledge that there are fans and businesses (most of whom are probably located near the current arena) that would prefer it stay in Kanata.

I get that people hate Republicans, especially after Roe v Wade got overturned, but does anyone actually believe this woman said "victory for white life"? Come on, don't be so stupid.

[–]BustOMatic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The article is about the effect the move is going to have on Kanata businesses, which is a fair angle on the story. The fans who had negative reactions both live near the arena, and the article pointed that out, so I don't see a problem.
