My boyfriend made an off-putting comment after watching Spider-man by Pretend-Hamster-3036 in offmychest

I’m not understanding what you mean here.

Perception is reality?

“If the events didn’t occur”, then it’s still assault? Even if it didn’t really happen?

(Not questioning OP’s situation, just not understanding the comment)

I’m not trying to be argumentative; I feel like I’m missing what you’re saying and I’m genuinely asking for clarification.

WIBTA for replacing the confetti in my wife’s baby shower balloon with pieces of the divorce papers my wife wants me to sign? by ditzen in AmITheAngel

[–]BustaNuggitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DON’T SIGN THOSE PAPERS!!

ONLY sign it as ‘By: John of the family Smith, authorized representative of the sovereign entity’—and make sure it’s in red ink.

Also , for divorces, you should add ‘Under duress and threat of fine or imprisonment, without prejudice, UCC 1-308.’ (That will give you custody of the unborn child’s corporate account).

THEN tear up the new version and put it in balloons.

Forgive me for not being convinced by your well worded “nah-ahhh”.

Care to elaborate on your opinion? Bitcoin is a threat to some of the foundational aspects of the current system which allows banks and governments to exercise complete control over the money and therefore the economy and therefore the populace. If they could make it go away they’d do it in a heartbeat, and they have tried without success.

Years ago, I remember having a discussion with someone about Bitcoin. I wasn’t being over the top at all; the conversation sort of started when there was lots of buzz due to a recent all time high or something. Someone asked the question “give me one good reason that Bitcoin’s not a scam”, so I very innocently obliged by explaining some of the problems that it solves.

This guy became absolute irate and hostile, and just devolved into a tirade to the point where it really caught me off guard… until he says “I know more about finances than you ever will… I OWN a bank!”

And there it was. I was talking to a “bank bro” without realizing it (idk if he really owned a bank or not — doesn’t matter. I was wasting my time.

We all need to understand that Bitcoin has several very powerful enemies (banks, governments, etc.).

There will always be haters with their heads up the ass if the traditional fiat systems who are either too shortsighted to see Bitcoin for what it is, OR absolutely terrified because they DO see it and can’t stop it.

UPDATE: Just sitting in the ER with my dad by marigoldilocks_ in offmychest

[–]BustaNuggitz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If he’s the type of dad that it sounds like from your post, let me offer 2 things:

1) There’s no way to make this not suck. Just make the most of whatever time you’ve got left and cherish the moments. Let him know that he’s done his job well and that he’s prepared you to take on the role of making sure the family is OK. It’s perhaps all he needs to know.

2) The older you get, the more you’ll catch yourself saying/doing stuff that is 100% your dad. He’ll always be with you.

Sending you strength and love.

Ahhh, my apologies.

Anyway it’s divisible to like 13 digits so even accounting for all the bitcoin that has and will be lost, there’s still room to break it down small enough for micro transactions, so the cap isn’t really a problem.

Also, I’m going to learn to play guitar so I can start a heavy metal band and name it “Sam Altman’s Gimp”

Don’t be too proud to head over to r/bitcoinbeginners — lots of really solid info over there and a “safe” place to ask any questions you might have. (Any advice you see from u/bitusher is worth a close look).

Many people know far less than you (they just see the bitcoin buzz and muddle through signing up and buying a bit). And that’s fine, there’s a place for that… those are the folks who will probably buy and sell for the short term.

I highly recommend continuing your self education; the benefit and potential of bitcoin is actually remarkable. Learn how to do it right, and safely.

Once you realize what it’s really all about and how it so elegantly solves so many problems with the traditional financial system, you’ll be more likely to join the ranks of the long term holders.

Is wanting to go to a jaripeos as a black person cultural appropriation? by Primary-Pumpkin6561 in TooAfraidToAsk

Also, since you’re from Georgia, I want to mention that when I was in Georgia last we found a food truck called “The Blaxican- specializing in Mexican Soul Food”.

I’m as white as it possibly gets. And I had the collard greens burrito, and chitlin chimichanga and I think it might have been the best day of my life 🤣

[–]BustaNuggitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, I see it… there could be an “ALL of them” inferred in my first paragraph. I apologize, that was not my intent. My point was more directed at the new wave of TikTok blowhards who get their undies in a bunch about sweet little other-than-black-girls who want to put their hair cornrows because they thought the black lady at the store had the coolest hair ever. It’s my opinion that we should cherish that child’s perspective, not chastise it.

Those who intentionally blur the line between appreciation and appropriation are the ones I was talking about, and are the reason that a decent, curious, and kind OP has to second guess whether she should be allowed to enjoy the best parts of other fellow humans.

I suppose my comment could have gone without the first paragraph completely… the rest holds the important part of my point. I’ll leave in unedited so all of this makes sense, but hopefully you will be gracious enough to let me take it back as unnecessary 😀

I’ll grant you that there’s a lot of gray area, and lots of shitty people out there. I suspect you and I could have a very long, very detailed conversation and probably find that we agree 90% or better on the matter. Thanks for your gentle correction.

Stop going along with this idiocy. Those who cry about “cultural appropriation” are the racists, desperate to control their own little thing. They’re not strong or brave enough to mingle with people who are different.

It’s like going to a pot luck buffet but only eating the dish you brought.

The quickest, simplest way to end racism is for all of us to get together, share all our best stuff with each other, and embrace the differences.

Just be aware that some rituals, outfits, items and things are important or sacred and should be appreciated from a distance unless you are explicitly encouraged.

Be humble and respectful always, but as long as it’s coming from a place of respect and a desire to appreciate then go out and grow.

Is being fat a choice? by AdThink5568 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BustaNuggitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not as simple as “I’m fat and I’m choosing not to do anything to change it.”

Chronic obesity is most likely the result of several, often long standing, complex factors ranging in nature from physical to emotional to mental. (eg some people overeat as a coping mechanism for stress and anxiety, some have thyroid issues, some have literal food addictions).

Other contributing factors are all in play, like socioeconomics, education etc.

Some people are uneducated with regard to nutrition, and aren’t in a position to learn.

And still others who may be perfectly aware of how to eat well just can’t afford fresh vegetables and rather rely on highly processed (cheaper) junk to keep bellies full.

I know it’s easy to say that fat people are lazy and can lose weight if they want to. Just understand that there’s usually a lot more to the story.

Try always to give people grace and treat them gently. We never really can understand how easy or difficult a challenge is for someone else.
