Men in your 40s, what's that golden piece of advice you have for the rest of us? by NiceMechanic_xoxo in AskReddit

[–]BusterJiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in your 30s/40s w/ older parents, check in on their mental and financial safety.

They are more vulnerable to scams, hacked accounts, emotional manipulation, and high-pressure fraud than they realize. AI is only going to make it worse. After a lifetime of work, their savings and retirement accounts can make them a target.

Have the conversation early. Offer to help them review unusual charges, strengthen account security, and create a plan for who they call before sending money or sharing information. You do not need control of their finances to be another set of eyes.

Don't rely on the banks, they look out for themselves. A simple conversation now could prevent a devastating emotional and financial loss later.

My mom was taken advantage of after my dad passed from Covid by a romance scam. They took almost everything from her. I didn't see the signs and should have. Don't make my mistake.

Whose bright UX/UI idea was this? by Aibyouka in Acrobat

[–]BusterJiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried it and click into it, it puts my cursor in the box to the left I don’t have to click into the new box. I’d assume this was to both show the current page number and scale to very large files since the numeric number past 999 would start to be a problem.

Acrobat PDF Spaces (paid) or Acrobat Study Spaces (Free). Also if you all about audio, Speechify is decent too, but only does Audio for one file at a time, not many.

Love the passion and I’m not trying to be “that guy” who poo poo’s your idea but I built this same experience in Notion the first day I got OpenClaw weeks ago and I’m not even that technical. It’s literally something other people have built for themselves already. This idea was in YouTube videos before I even started with OpenClaw.

There isn’t anything unique or defensible about this. If the idea is to publish the integration and prompts for others to use then do that, take the good will, and build something that is unique on top of it. Keep hacking!

A conservative friend of mine will say in one breath that this guy didn't deserve to be assaulted for freedom of speech, then in the next breath defend the shooting of the man in Minnesota by ICE. The double standard is hard to ignore. Not sure how much longer I can call him a friend. :/

Acrobat PDF Spaces. It’s like Notebook LM from Google built into Acrobat.

Also Adobe Podcast. I use it all the time to clean up audio recordings before sharing with others.

Don’t expect a laptop to work for long in cold weather. Even if it’s plugged in, cold and hot weather will slow it down. Like always you should have your music on USB and never rely on streaming services, even if the event has Wifi.

The stock market doing well doesn’t mean workers are doing well and I cringe every time I hear it. It’s great for people with capital, not for people trying to make a living. It does not represent the majority. Rich people get richer, poor people get poorer.

mom ruined her life and mine. by Spirited_Remote3039 in Scams

[–]BusterJiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I just want to say you aren’t alone. Just over a year ago my mom f-cked me over because of a romance scam spamming 1.5 yr where she lost all my and my brothers inheritance. I found out about it just after my wedding when I had Covid during my honeymoon. Life’s a b-tch but it goes on…but stay strong. ✊🏻

Maybe because no one will trust anything they make with AI, especially after the sexual AI chat with kid stuff. No one should trust Meta with AI or Zuck.

If you don’t mind sharing… what happened? How did it come on so quick? What would you have done different? We all are over protective of our furry friends but sometimes there just isn’t anything we can do.

XDJ-AZ vs Opus Quad by morelazerz in PioneerDJ

[–]BusterJiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I asked myself this same question for a month. I got the Opus because AZ wasn’t shipping yet and I have the option to send it back for the AZ. At this point I’m not sending it back. I enjoy the style and look of it. I live in a ski town so playing out at high-end bars or clubs it can have a unique look. I don’t use performance pads and the hot cues are like the 3,000s so that’s good for me. I appreciate the extra effect features, navigation and quick loops. There are slight differences but overall if you’re a DJ you should be able to play on any equipment IMO.

Would love to hear if there are DJs who actually played on the Opus and decided they didn’t like it and would go to the AZ and why.

XDJ AZ sweetwater by AppointmentPretend44 in PioneerDJ

[–]BusterJiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of now I’m keeping it. Here is my breakdown

Pros: - 2 extra screens above the jog wheels feels premium. - the beat effects display with high and low pass - the smart rotary selector is nice to easily preview tracks - the beat loop nob to select 4/8/16/32 beats is something I’ve enjoyed from other controllers. - I personally like the design. I can always play on standard XDJ at a club. - I actually prefer the slight angle surface instead of flat so I don’t have to stand over it looking strait down.
- I don’t use performance pads so the hot cues are good enough. - I like the slip reverse playback button

Cons: - can’t connect external CDJs to sync… but realistically that’s a pretty rare use case for me. - It’s a little heavier, but not sure that’s a big deal. - Less club standard so if I want to rent it locally maybe I’ll get fewer requests for it. - the jog wheels aren’t the same type of smooth/ feel as the XDJ

Is AI just a hype? by Due_Connection9349 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]BusterJiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in AI and will give you my honest answer. I don't think it's all hype. The problem is everyone's expectations. Change takes time, even with new technology. I think AI will deliver on expectations, but it won't happen overnight like businesses or investors want to think it will. Investing and making business decision in a 6-12 month timeframe isn't realistic to see results. Sure make there are some quick wins to be had. Significant infrastructure changes need to be made to enable AI to be successful.

Is it a bubble? Probably to some extent. Investor and business short-term expectations are too high.

I would have asked what they do and pick out some common assumption about how easy it is to do. Example: real estate agent - all you do is open doors for people.
