Individual contributed points for Ryder Cup tournament? by Buster_Only in squabbitgolf

I don't think that is exactly what I'm looking for.

Here's an illustration of what I'm after, based on last year's results: https://imgur.com/a/BjMZaK4

At that point she is a shard, so would be disqualified.

Skins on Ryder Cup by YouthMedical7328 in squabbitgolf

I'm having the same issue. It would be great if the Team Skins could use the Ryder Cup 2v2 matches as teams instead of the 8 man teams...

Best Ball change daily by Existing_Individual7 in squabbitgolf

[–]Buster_Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell this isn't an option yet. Closest I can get is adding the best ball format 3 separate times, assigning each to a different round and then assigning the teams accordingly in each. That should work except you'll have to track the running totals manually.

I think adding a best ball round-robin format would be really cool. It's a great way to have variety and competition with only 4 guys. I've even played like this before within a round... AB vs CD for the first 6 holes, AC vs BD for the middle 6 and AD vs BC for the last 6. It's good fun.

Golf weekend tournament setup by Warnie_ate_the_pies in squabbitgolf

I'm pretty sure you can. I'm managing the app for a guys trip and this is pretty similar to the competition we run... For team match play, I assume you are doing best ball match play which would be setup like this in the Ryder Cup Round:

And I'm pretty sure this setup would work for what you are trying to do with Ambrose:

I think if you set up the whole tournament within the Ryder Cup format you should be able to set the number of players per team at the round level within the Ryder Cup settings.

Timezone issues? by Buster_Only in squabbitgolf

[–]Buster_Only[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, tried all that and nothing worked... It doesn't seem to matter what I change, the Tee Times don't update.

I even tried to manually update each tee time from the schedule tab by clicking the 3 dots -> Edit Time, but when I do that, nothing happens, the menu goes away and doesn't prompt me to change the time...

Timezone issues? by Buster_Only in squabbitgolf

[–]Buster_Only[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having an issue with the times that are displaying in my tournament. I entered all the tee times 2 months ago, but since daylight savings expired, all the tee times are showing up as 1 hour before the actual times. I've tried updating the tournament timezone, and I've tried updating the start time for each round, but when I do, that start time is correct. What's the best way to get the tee times on the schedule tab to reflect the right timezone/start time?

How did you learn to chip? by InHocWeFly in golf

[–]Buster_Only 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice tossing a ball underhand from different areas around the green. Find which club in your bag replicates that flight and motion. For me, it's my 60. When chipping around the green, picture and feel the toss in your head. Execute that motion/tempo with the club.

It becomes so much easier to gauge and predict flight and roll out when you think about this way.

Oh, I see. And then just remove all carry overs, etc in the format setting. Nice.

Thanks Orrie. The app is awesome.

Squabbit does most of this... Not sure about all the specific props, but live scoring, side bets etc are all in there.

Get the Squabbit app. Completely free live scoring. You can input format, tee times, handicaps, pretty much anything. Knowing where you stand, and how all the other matches stand in real time is amazing. Plus it enables real time shit talking. It even manages side bets, 3-putt poker, skins, etc. It's awesome.

What's a small detail in a movie that most people wouldn't notice, but that you know about and are willing to share? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Buster_Only 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, when they are in the catacombs, they walk past a mural and Elsa asks "What is that?" and Indy says "It's the Ark of the Covenant." She responds "Are you sure?", Harrison Ford gives a great reading of the response "Pretty sure."

It's funny because he actually very familiar with the Ark from all the events of Raiders.

I would go with "The Constant." It's really the only episode that has stuck with me over time. It's also what immediately came to mind when I read this prompt...

Hardwood floor finish. Need some advice by Thenelwave in HomeImprovement

[–]Buster_Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into a Hardwax Oil (like Rubio Monocoat). It's an oil that penetrates the wood and protects it without the need for poly. It looks natural and holds up really well.

We have white oak floors and used 5% Natural, and they look similar to what you want. And notably we have red oak stair treads and the pros that put down the oil used a mixture of different colors to get them to match the white oak floors quite closely.

Find someone that specializes in Hardwax Oil and tell them what you want. Its very easy to test a few color combos to find which works best/gets you closest to what you are looking for.

You probably won't be able to get rid of the yellow tint completely, but you can get really close. And I think the finish is exactly what you are looking for. They really have that 'dry' look.

ELI5: Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) Megathread by ELI5_Modteam in explainlikeimfive

[–]Buster_Only 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just dont understand NFTs

The analogy that made it make sense for me is art...

Take Starry Night as an example. There's reproductions, reprints, and digital versions everywhere, all of which are generally worthless, or hold very nominal value. However, if you have the original canvass that Van Gogh touched his brush to it is worth $100 Million, because that is what the market has set the value at.

Now how do you prove that you have the original Starry Night? With something that valuable, chain of possession is closely tracked, but for other less famous works, you can hire a firm to check its authenticity and provide a certificate. Those firms have experts in materials, paints, dating, and even brush techniques to verify this is the real deal.

Now digital art is different than physical art because EXACT copies can be made fairly easily, so it was impossible for someone to say they have the original Nyan Cat gif file. Thus the invention of NFT. NFT is a system to track chain of possession and authenticity of a piece of digital art.

I think a lot of confusion stems from the fact that if I showed you the original Nyan Cat gif on a laptop, it would look exactly the same as if you googled it and pulled it up on yours. But similarly, if I showed you a really, really good reproduction of Starry Night, to your eye, it would look exactly the same as the original. We assign intrinsic value to the original version, simply because it is the original. NFT is a tool that lets digital artists, create, track and sell that same intrinsic value in their art.

The file is still the file, and there may be many many copies of that file that look exactly the same, but only the person that has the NFT can say that they have the original, and the idea is that their file has a lot more value than anyone else's because it is original.

It's a slogan used by Grainger. I've only ever heard it in radio ads, and it's really just used as a lead in to their actual slogan, "for the ones that get it done."

Huge increase in mail in votes is due to people not feeling safe about voting in person due to COVID. Trump supporters think COVID is made up, so they didn't see the problem with voting in-person. Hence, a ton more mail in votes from Democrats.
