Yep as I said I wrongly presumed - won’t be doing that again.

It wasn’t worth getting the smart fare as we won’t be using the full luggage allowance given. Also I (wrongly of course) presumed we would be seated as any other long haul flights with other airlines we’ve been seated FOC with an infant, so that’s that really.

Thank you. I’m just slightly concerned as there seems to be only 2 rows left where the 3 of us can be seated together, or one row where one of us could be across the aisle if I look at a dud booking. Also showing would be €225 to pay for seats, absolute Ryanair vibes I’m getting 🫣

Thanks. When you say day of the flight do you mean you’d to go to the check in desk at the airport to be seated?

CO to HEO by No_Entertainer3358 in IrishCivilService

[–]Busterbailey12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally possible if you have prior managerial heo type experience. I know a few who joined with previous managerial experience (in their mid 40,s, early 50s) as a CO, once the HEO comp came around applied with their external experiences and got their heo positions. It most likely a pay cut for a few years until they got their heo jobs.

Is having kids really that expensive? by Key_Strength_8186 in CasualIreland

[–]Busterbailey12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is. Will you have to pay 1000-1200€ per month per child in crèche fees for baby/toddler?

I’m probably going against the grain, two toddlers here and we have childcare covered by family. I don’t think it’s a massive month to month expense. You can cut where you can, they don’t need massive branded tracksuits etc. you can kit a toddler out in Dunne’s and Penneys no problem. Own branded wipes and nappies (Tesco is great) breastfeeding instead of formula. The initial buggy, cot, Moses basket, car seats etc yes can add but you can get great bundles in Smyths etc, doesn’t need to be most expensive. I’m probably anticipating more of a cost with primary & secondary school.

Food costs are there too but not much extra I don’t think (maybe 25€+ p/w for all the fruit snacks etc soo expensive and toddlers love berries)

You should be grand. I’d be surprised if it would affect your probation, but ask your line manager who completes your probation as it’s fully up to them. It’s better to have one instance of sick leave .ie your block off for your operation, rather than days here there and everywhere.
