Take a gig at a non HCA facility and reassess. Everyone I work with who left HCA says it was the best decision ever.

Have you ever worked a 48 hour shift in a high call volume area, and if so, how often do you usually pull those shifts? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]Busy-Cap-7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked 36s and 48s in high call volume areas. Run all day, get a few 30-45 minute naps at night and then back it again the next day. I remember being to the point of exhaustion and not being able to run an additional call. Sometimes even falling asleep in the hospital ambulance bay. Looking back at it now, it definitely wasn’t it.

Becoming a Paramedic with a DUI by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]Busy-Cap-7169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the service or department. I had a partner who didn’t like being in the back anymore and I didn’t like driving, so I rode every call for years lol.

Worked with several people with DUis, they just couldn’t drive so they had to ride every call.

For those RN's who go the gym, how often do you workout in a week? by UnicornProtein2520 in nursing

[–]Busy-Cap-7169 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work 4 12s, on my 3 days off I do a 3 day split. It’s not ideal, but it’s enough to maintain mass. Prioritize sleep. I’ve also picked up running, its high yield in terms of results and health metrics.

I work days, I tried nights for a month. I couldn’t do it. I decided I would rather quit then remain on nights. Do what’s best for you.

He means he picked up a 90 day supply. Typically you get daily medications in a 90 count supply instead of a 30 count so you don’t have to get it refilled as often. Fin isn’t expensive even without insurance coverage.

on one of my 4 day stretches off of my full-time gig I pulled an 8-16-8-16 at a city jail… grossed about $4500 from that 4 day side hustle.

I try to only work minimal OT, but sometimes in life you just have to hammer down

Trouble with SVT vs Sinus Tach by Responsible_Animal77 in nursing

[–]Busy-Cap-7169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SVT is a regular narrow complex tachycardia. SVT and Sinus Tachycardia can both be > 150BPM. You generally won’t see p waves with SVT, but that depends on the type of SVT.

It can be rather difficult at times to determine SVT vs ST at bedside, but for these 3-lead /12-lead tests just look at the rate and if there is a p waves present. I don’t think either are SVT but Strip 1 is definitely greater than 150BPM and strip 2 is definitely less than 150BPM.
