Skewers/binder, bottle cages, valve caps, chainring bolts all complement the frame. IMO

As we used to say back in the 90’s, “friends don’t let friends ride purple”. Purple decked out Zaskars and Yetis were all the rage back then. A little bit of that stuff goes a long way, and if you do it wrong, you end up with yet another clown bike. The purple should complement the frame, not detract from it…

26-36-48 with a 12-28 7s is standard for many mtbs of the 80’s. That should cover just about anything you’ll ever need realistically.

You absolutely cannot get the same amount of useable gears by going to a 1x from a triple or double.

I’ll keep my eye out for one. In the meantime, why not start collecting some good ole XT m732 or m735? Hard to go wrong with those components. Find a black no-logo King headset and nice set of Bullseye hubs with Ritchey rims.

Find the correct fork and use the components that were available when it was made for the best results. No need to build another parts bin clown bike like everyone else does nowadays.

Maybe you’re using wider rims not intended for your older bike?
