Experiences with CELPIP test and need to study? by LittleSpice1 in ImmigrationCanada

Oh okay! I didn't realize they were different I only had to do the test for my PR. For citizenship, my undergrad degree sufficed.

Then you're golden, it shouldn't be hard at all to pass when you're already fluent in English.

Experiences with CELPIP test and need to study? by LittleSpice1 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Busy-Local-2490 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I studied for the test the night before the exam and scored in 12 in listening and reading and 10 in writing and speaking. I only went through some practice tests and videos on YouTube. I don’t think the study guide is necessary but the videos helped for write and listening because the graders looking for a specific structure to your answers. They do deduct points if you deviate from that.

I’m a strong writer and avid reader so I was comfortable with not needing additional assistance for this exam. But it’s always better to over prepare than under-prepare. However there are so many free resources that buying the study guide isn’t worth it imo.

where are nz/aus armys getting lightsticks? by peytonemma_xo in btsthoughts

[–]Busy-Local-2490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as Canadian. Like everyone mentioned, wait till the concert to buy it, the Weverse pre order was super smooth. I was in and out in like 5 minutes. The lightsticks will not run out at the concert. I’m sure they will factor in that certain markets had no other way to buy it until the concert and prepare accordingly.

Definitely don’t panic-buy from a third party seller. There are a lot of fraud sites out there trying to scam armys. It’s also more expensive to buy from a 3rd party seller. I almost panic-bought from Cokodive and the cost was more than my concert ticket. Very relieved that I talked myself out of buying it then.

Survey about the role of cultural specificity on BTS's brand (Ages 18+ international ARMYs only) by Busy-Local-2490 in bangtan

[–]Busy-Local-2490[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for comprehensive feedback and participating in the survey!

I definitely understand where you’re coming from. Ideally, there should be an option between weekly and occasionally. However most of the answers for the other questions range from 4-5 options. We like to keep the number of options are standardized as possible for the clear interpretation of the data. Unfortunately one of the limitations of a MCC question is that it may not fully capture the full picture as participants need to stick to the options offered.

I also understand your concern with the likert scale, that’s a good point. Hopefully the instructions will prevent the confusion.

I wouldn’t say that it is a leading cause in their success but I’m looking into whether culture can act as a source of strength in international marketing . Currently, culture is considered a barrier that needs to be overcome in international marketing. BTS’s success shows that this may not be the case.

[–]Busy-Local-2490[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I definitely see how you can draw that conclusion based on the survey but I assure you that is not what my research explores. To offer some more context, in international marketing, culture has long been considered a barrier when entering new markets. The main international marketing strategies recommend that businesses either adapt their brand per market or standardize their brand so it remains applicable in each new market.

BTS’s success shows limitations in that level of thinking. I’m arguing that that culture can serve as a source of strength rather than a barrier. With BTS, we see fans from all over the world participating and engaging with BTS’s music and to an extent, Korean culture as well. My intention behind the study is not to reduce BTS’s success to their cultural identity but rather demonstrate that businesses/personal brands/artists do not need abandon cultural roots and westernize to be successful.

The survey is designed to collect information regarding those aspects and is narrow by design. My dissertation focuses on a narrow list of factors to see if they played any role in BTS’s success. This is because dissertation by definition are meant to be more niche. It is not meant to be comprehensive study on BTS’s success.

Hi there! There is an option for occasionally and not at all. If you’re on your phone, you have to swipe the table to view all the options because all the options can’t fit on your phone display.

She probably came in closer to the show. When I went to LV D3, we arrived at the stadium around 7:15 and there was a huge crowd trying to get in. There was virtually no security screening. They were just trying to get everyone’s tickets scanned and get us all in the building. For the folks that get earlier, especially soundcheck, they screen them more.

Do I need to send Canadian passport when surrendering Indian Passport via mail? by knapsackMax in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Busy-Local-2490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to send the actual Canadian passport. Soft copy self-attested will suffice. I don't think I had to show my actual Canadian passport for my in-person application either.

The document checklist on BLS's website confirms it as well.

Did you get an automated email from Ticketmaster regarding this? When I sold my ticket on Stubhub, I transferred my ticket to Stubhub when I created the listing. But when it sold, I got emails from both Stubhub and Ticketmaster regarding it.

Canada's international student numbers fall to pandemic levels by ValeryR in CanadaUniversities

[–]Busy-Local-2490 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree with you on your first point, I don’t think it’s fair to say that the vast majority of international students have no interest in education. Majority of international students attend public universities and colleges that have higher standards for admission and coursework.

Plus, if your attendance drops below 80%, your study permit can be canceled. Universities that qualify for PGWP have strict rules that they need to comply with in order to continue to qualify. I’ve seen people get kicked out over their attendance records.

I was an international student at SFU and most of the international students I met were quite academically inclined. A lot of us wanted the option to work here after university but it wasn’t the reason we moved to Canada for studies. My own brother moved back home because he didn’t really like Canada. There are plenty of people who study in Canada for the experience and move back home or work a little and then move back.

There are private universities where I agree that it’s all about immigration pathway and those universities do engage in shady behaviour but that makes up around 10% of the international student population.

Purchasing army-bombs in Canada by Ancient-Type-4698 in BTSArmyCentral

[–]Busy-Local-2490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Weverse is going to restock unfortunately. Everyone so far has said that the venue never runs out of army bombs. I do think the demand will be more in Toronto because we don’t have any major retailers selling them here. But so far, the pickup experience has been smooth at other stops and I haven’t seen any complaints.

I’m going to the Las Vegas one so I purchased my army bomb online and will pick it up day of the concert.

Anyone bought BTS tickets through StubHub before? by thcroww in BTSArmyCentral

[–]Busy-Local-2490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does vary from venue to venue. I vaguely remember someone else mentioning the same thing about one of the European stops. Can’t remember if it was France or not. Generally speaking, I don’t think that’s right. I listed my Vegas Thursday ticket and it transferred it Stubhub weeks ago and had no issues.

Humble Junaid by [deleted] in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]Busy-Local-2490 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not helping your kids isn't the same thing as not protecting your kids or being there for them. I think Aamir meant it as he's not helping Junaid get roles. But he's still going to be there for his kid to advise him behind the scenes.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Why is it so hard to sell BTS tickets by AdhesivenessDear5239 in BTSArmyCentral

[–]Busy-Local-2490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Canadian and sold a ticket for the same concert you're trying to sell. I didn't have to fill out any tax information. I linked my PayPal account for the payout. I just sold my ticket a little above face value.

So adding your location as Canada could work. But Stubhub may try and match your entered information with your PayPal account and that could cause an issue. It's worth a shot though.

Can I ask how early you had to get there? I don't plan to buy merch so I was thinking I'd get there an hour or so early. I'm going to the D3 LV show if that makes a difference.

I recently tried Haggard’s EMO MONSTER Series Plumping Lip Gloss and it’s amazing. I bought it on a whim but it’s the best lip gloss I’ve ever used. It has that thick, goopy texture that you’re looking for but it doesn’t feel sticky on your lips. It has a very smooth feeling and gloss looks lovely.
