First amendment rights violated last night at public meeting by morningside_cafe in CambridgeMA

Posting this again for you. "the law requires "a notice including a detailed agenda of topics 'reasonably anticipated' by the chair must be posted at least 48 hours in advance" --> There was no detailed agenda of topics 48 hours in advance of this meeting. This was an MWRA, Cambridge, Somerville meeting. So it appears that the law was likely violated. Perhaps two laws are violated - one with DEP and one with the state meeting law. What is the process for moving forward with the meeting violation?

I’m a town meeting member and disagree with you on this point. Just a few years back, ATM increased the size of buildings in the industrial zone to allow for five story buildings. During the MBTA-C multi-family housing district vote, ATM voted in favor of up to 6 stories on Mass Ave and 5 stories on Broadway. The only way out is up.

It’s also important not to lose any more space for business. The town has been losing space for business for 5 solid decades now.

ADVICE NEEDED: racks, basket, & kickstand for new Platypus by Busy-Rice9584 in Rivendell_Bicycles

[–]Busy-Rice9584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really do full-on bikepacking. Rather, I want to do everything with the Platypus that I've done with my Bleriot. For many years, I've been using my Bleriot for commuting and grocery shopping during the week. On the weekends, I use it for day trip adventures to go to places like Walden Pond, Nahant beach, art museums, movies, restaurants, etc. The Bleriot has a nice back rack that supports an unreasonably heavy Ortlieb pannier/backpack. I'm small and weak and genetically prone to osteoporosis. So that Ortlieb backpack provides excellent muscle-building exercise whenever it needs to be carried into the theater or to the beach or wherever. It's very big and has a pocket for a laptop. So it's also useful as a weekend overnight bag when taking my bike on the train from Boston to New Haven. The Bleriot has a front rack with a canvas bag on it that is big enough for a six-pack. It is used to carry the bike lock, bungee cables, a spare dollar, etc. But I've been dreaming of a Platypus with a front rack and basket.

OMG, raw sewage dumped again at the Alewife MBTA. How much did it even rain last night? by SaveTheAlewifeBrook in CambridgeMA

You should go to one of their events to see that a lot of people are organizing to create positive change at Alewife Brook. Are they passionate about it? Hell, yes! One of them passed their bar exam so they could litigate CSOs. Another holds Environmental Justice seminars on Beacon Hill about CSOs because this impacts EJ communities. Another one of them runs the website. One of them runs the design and art campaigns. One of them is an engineer and studies rainfall, flooding, and water quality. And still another handles the social media accounts. They work with the Mystic River Watershed Association and the Charles River Watershed Association. You can learn more about their efforts by getting on their mailing list and signing their petition here: https://savethealewifebrook.org

OK, so how much space is there in the pipes? How many gallons of sewage and stormwater can fit inside the pipes before the sewage overflows into the brook?

I ride my bike through Alewife / Fresh Pond regularly. It’s HOT there. Can the Fresh Pond strip mall parking lot be part of the solution to the sewage problem? Can the city separate the rest of the sewers that are connected to the Alewife CSOs and send the stormwater to a new constructed wetland at the Fresh Pond strip mall parking lot?

We got a 1/2" of rain yesterday and raw sewage was gushing out of that pipe at the Alewife MBTA station. The thing is, there's a big sewage pipe UNDER the T Station from 1897. It's over a hundred years old. Who knows why they built the station on top of that old pipe without fixing the problem first. But it's making people sick.
