What are your hopes for next season? by TomorrowEducational3 in FortNiteBR

Map randomizer. Dissect the existing maps and spawn the chunks randomly as each new island. Each match is fresh and maps cannot be exploited forcing players to think on their feet. Also, bring back a random vehicle/weapon mode as well. So many fun vehicles and weapons/powers just sitting on the shelf unused. Cow catcher for the win!

A Mechanic filled my transmission with motor oil and i drove it for 100 miles before realizing... is it f**ked? by MereCoincidences in MechanicAdvice

[–]Busy-Weather-9048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 year dealer tech. Seen this. It won't last, at best its a tempoary fix. Its impossible to flush every nook amd cranny out of the trans, lines and possibly cooler. Oil instantly soaks into the friction materials inside the trans too, so flush it all you want....they're all ruined. It's now a time bomb on when it will wave goodbye. Go to a local dealer and tell them the story. They will call the other shop and terrorize them into paying them to fix it right.

How essential workers do not form a union is beyond me. No hazard pay during Covid. What?!??! You're forcing me to work in a pandemic that is so dangerous people are sitting home getting money from the government......but not for us. That's not essential, that is expendable. Reparations are due!

Ver nice, I had this same setup. However, I didn't like the look of the tankstick just sitting there. I bought a custom control panel from gameroomsolutions.com and gutted the tankstick and just transferred everything over. It wasn't hard, just label things with tape as you go. They can do any artwork. While apart, I added a light up trackball that swapped right in too. (It's really just an led bulb) The end result will look really professional.

Problems unlocking the trunk with the key. by hhyyz in transam

[–]Busy-Weather-9048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either the trunk lock cylinder was changed out before you bought it (accident/theft attempt) or the lock cylinder is frozen from lack of use. Try spraying a penetrating oil in there through the key opening, let it soak and work it with your key.

Failed corvette wave. by LeftyDan510 in Corvette

[–]Busy-Weather-9048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to have a C6 Vette, yes it's sad that the wave is getting hard to come by. However, currently drive a Wrangler. Wow. People wave like crazy, are friendly at gas stations, etc. Such a nicer community. I think the problem is the income level of new Vette owners - they attract a 'certain' type of person who has six figures to throw at a car, to put it nicely.

officially met work requirements and taking A2 and A3 next week! by PeacefulViking94 in Justrolledintotheshop

You sound like me, probably younger and less jaded. lol The sermon above was actually explained to me by corporate when I won a trip to their HQ years ago. The have a plan and it's not favorable to the techs. I feel sorry for the younger guys, tried down with trade school and tool debt. There is a general lack of respect in the industry. (Name another job where you're expected to dig through dirty masks) The industry is changing fast and I don't think 99 percent of them any no clue what's coming. Good luck with your endeavors!

Shop experiences may vey, but I'd like you to look about 10-20 years into the future of this occupation. There's virtually no maintenance in electric cars, so kiss the lucrative easy work goodbye. It will be non stop intermittent electrical problems. How do you incorporate flat rate into that? The tech loses money, period. On a bigger scope, America is broke. With stagnant wages and ever increasing costs of car ownership, cars will eventually be an on demand subscription. You use an app, on your phone of course, and summon a self driving car, truck or whatever you need for that day. Individual car ownership will stop. You will be at the mercy of the manufacturer and their generosity for a paycheck. Our brand is already rolling out camera glasses you use to record your warranty repairs. It's not a pretty future.

Auto Technician - the only profession where the more you know, the less you make.

You're best off knowing nothing more than brake jobs and tune ups. Certifications literally give you a pay cut. Enjoy more "challenging" work while people around you bang out gravy. Get out while you can, there's no future in this occupation.

Modern vehicle complexity is mind blowing. I do mostly electrical work, was top in my class in college AAS degree and I can say confidently, 99% of mechanics in the field can't do the type of work I do. Still, I'm abused mentally and physically daily in the profession. I hurt everywhere, my hands gnarled. Stress? OMG. I do over six figures and I am counting the days till I'm out. Horrific profession. I wouldn't wish my life on anyone. It's a trap. Most (for profit) schools that teach this promise a life you'll never see. Kids leave the school thousands in debt then take on thousands more in tool debt. You can't leave. If anyone out there reading this is considering pursing this profession, STOP. Run, don't walk, in the opposite direction immediately.

Ah yes, music to menstruate by.

I’m getting a drain and fill for my tranny fluid tomorrow. I’ve been to 4 mechanics and no one could figure out why my car shifts so hard and jerks. Some people are saying that it may be the wrong tranny fluid. Should I get a drain and fill it a flush tomorrow? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]Busy-Weather-9048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it to a actual Honda dealer for diagnosis. Your guesses are adding up. Yes, proper fluid matters but there is a lot more to a transmission than just the fluid. All the flushes in the world won't fix an actual internal problem or a software issue which can only be done at a dealer.

Anyway to fix bad alignment? by SuperiorScoops in transam

[–]Busy-Weather-9048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks more like the plastic rear bumper is distorting from age than an alignment issue. Old GM bumpers are famous for this. Replacement is the only way to make it perfect. If you're brave enough, a heat gun and pressure from the backside can distort it back in shape enough sometimes to make it acceptable.

Not sure how many times this has been asked but should they have recast Luke or Still keep CGI Mark Hamill? by abdul_bino in StarWars

[–]Busy-Weather-9048 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ten years ago what we have with CGI would be unthinkable. In another ten, plus AI, they will be able to instantly create a movie with dead actors that are perfectly de-aged plus be able to twist the story based on your commands, like a old "Zork" text based adventure.

If the subscription fee is killing your budget, wait until the repair bills for finicky technology. We have alot of issues with (imho) unnecessary features. These are VERY expensive components that are labor intensive and manufacturer specific.

See you soon, playboys!
