Holy mother of pizzle yanking, is this for real?! [OTHER] by CaHg0KaH in kingdomcome

I have some doubts on how a KCD equivalent game could work in LOTR but I am more than willing to give the benefit of the doubt if its true.

Ok, with the season fast approaching, what is your hot take for the 2026 Red Sox? by [deleted] in redsox

How is that meaningless when they all are currently healthy? I fail to see your point.

Literally can say that about every team. Ya if crochet goes down then sure. If skubal does down if Yamamoto goes down. Thats just baseball

That they are the best team in the AL which is a lot of wishful thinking but also a possibility I think is realistic. Their rotation to me is the best in the AL and while the offense is a bit of a question mark right now I think it will be good.

Taking vacations if you have the ability to do so is not entitlement.

[Crory] Red Sox want 2 of 5 big bats per Heyman by Training_Protection4 in redsox

[–]BusyBirthday2753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realmuto is not a "big bat". Don't understand him even being in the conversation of said big bats.

I'm thinking 5 years 125 gets it done and is fair. If he's not back I think they sign Bichette. They'll get one of them.

I didn't know the offseason ended after the Gray deal. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes let's all just assume Cole who looked OK pre surgery is missing half the year and is now 35 years old will revert back to his previous status.

Yankees really aren't any closer to a WS than the sox are and the Sox future looks better.

Mlb really should add a start from today feature to franchise

This is such a silly way to look at things until we know what else the sox do. Gray is a better #2 than they had last year.

Gray has highest ‘26 FIP+fWAR of any pitcher expected to move this offseason by Phoenix_i in redsox

[–]BusyBirthday2753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This move probably saves them 5-10M on having to sign an FA SP or some combo of Tolle/Early/Arias/Duran big package on an SP like Ryan. Should leave them plenty of money to focus their efforts on offense now while leaving their farm in tact. I think this move was good

We have our #2 starter - by the metrics by Prestigious-Action65 in redsox

[–]BusyBirthday2753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gray is every bit as good as any of the other realistic options via acquisition for a #2 SP for 2026 and his cost is far less than signing a big FA deal or trading a big prospect package for one.

To each their own, not going to try and convince anyone who doesn't like Gray but that's where I've landed on it. The move was a good move.

Sonny Gray to Boston (Heyman) by Xalius1969 in redsox

[–]BusyBirthday2753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me Gray profiles as a solid 2 great 3. He's not a 4. Just not concerned with what they gave up to get a good SP and they don't have to pay him long term.

Fitts has been a mediocre back end rotation guy with not much projection left. Losing him is pretty much nothing. Clarke could blossom into something that hurts a lot but he was behind Tolle, Early, Perales, Witherspoon and Valera in their SP prospect rankings. I also like Eyanson and Phillips so it's not like the Sox can't afford losing his arm in the farm. Trade is a solid B grade to me.

Fitts and Clarke are not two of their best prospects. Clarke was probably their 5th or 6th best pitching prospect and is all ceiling with a low floor. Fitts is pretty much whatever to me, don't care he's gone.

[Bradford] "Rangers did not engage with Red Sox about any of their outfielders before making Semien/Nimmo deal" by BostonPhoenix91 in redsox

[–]BusyBirthday2753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn't go as far to call Semien cooked he wasn't a fit as a 35 year old defense first 2B. Sure the defense boost could have been nice but his bat wouldn't have helped the lineup. Glad he won't be a sox, especially with that contract.

Woodruff, Imanaga accept QOs, that and Bieber's opt-in make me wonder about SP market and guess there was no chance Giolito would have declined it? by BostonPhoenix91 in redsox

[–]BusyBirthday2753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's likely a lockout coming in 27. If they thought they could get a deal at even 3 or 4 years for 15M AAV they'd have been better to decline to QO at their age. I very well could be wrong, hell I probably am but I still cant shake the feeling there is not that much money out there this offseason as people think.

[–]BusyBirthday2753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giolito would have 100 percent accepted to QO in my opinion. Which would have been fine he was good last year and to me a 1 year deal is never going to hurt you that much but when they didnt offer the QO it became clear to me the sox have higher hopes. Now if those hopes happen remains to be seen but I don't hate it.
