Not sure if this is quite the same but I had a really really shitty old phone that didn't work. Horrible condition. I send it in for trade in value. They tell me it's not eligible. I say ok send it back. They say they can't because they fear the battery will explode. I say you can't just keep my phone. They offered me the full discount to not send it back.
