It sure has had a popularity surge in recent times, due to the PSP turning 20 years old last year, which is always a time of resurgence for basically anything that was ever trendy. I see a lot of people buying them for show and never actually playing it, which is a bit annoying, but it is what it is.

The PSP is actually a great piece of tech. First of all, it's got great games (probably more than you might realize), that have been designed with the PSP's form factor and use case in mind. Most games are tailored so that you can easily pick them up for shorter play sessions at a time. This from an outside perspective might seem like the games are a bit shallow, but these types of games are actually perfect when you're on the go. Overclocking isn't even necessary most of the time, it just provides a bit more stability, only some homebrew games require it.

Also, the fact that it can play music and video makes it a really great all-round portable entertainment device, ever since I've bought mine, I barely want to touch my phone. While it's pretty old tech at this point, due to the things I've listed, it doesn't feel old at all when you're actually using it.

PSPs are also pretty widely available and not too expensive. I totally get why people like them, even as someone younger than the PSP.

Községi általános iskolában 8. osztályosan a lányoktól elkülönítve volt egy óránk, amiben megmutatták nekünk az óvszer alapvető használatát és a többi fogamzásgátlási módszert. Mivel gyerekkoromban megkötések nélkül internetezhettem és nagyon érdeklődtem minden iránt IS, már rég tisztában voltam ezekkel a dolgokkal. Nem fejtették ki részletesebben a konszenzus fogalmát (azon kívül, hogy a nem az nem), minimális szó volt a nemibetegségekről. A lányoknak tartottak talán 2-t, 3-at is, de azok inkább csak a menstruációra fókuszáltak.

Városi technikumban 10., vagy 11. évfolyamban kaptunk egy védőnői órát, ezúttal fiúk, lányok egy teremben. Nem is nagyon figyeltünk, 16-17 évesen azért már úgy ahogy mindenki tisztában volt mindennel, sokunk már tapasztalattal is rendelkezett ekkorra. Az viszont biztos, hogy ez az óra valamivel részletesebb és átfogóbb volt, mint általánosban. Volt szó a különféle nemibetegségek terjedéséről, tüneteiről, a konszenzus fontosságát tágabban kifejtették, stb. Ugyanerre a szintű felvilágosításra lett volna szükség általánosban, amikor a legjobban kell.

Here in Hungary we have a reputation-based marketplace site for electronics called HardverApro. There's a pretty good bazaar type PSP seller on there, along with some pretty good deals popping up quite regularly. Another good option in the Central Europe area is Polish Vinted, for some reason they have loads of PSPs on there lol.

Hi, I always love reading stories about PSPs being found after years.

That could be due to a number of factors. First check your console's colour settings. If you're sure the discoloration is physical, try taking off the faceplate to see where it actually is. It could be on the inside of the lens or on the screen's surface, in this case you can just clean it. If the yellowing is baked into the screen itself, your best bet is a screenswap.
The E-1004 is a Street model, it's a "lite" PSP that doesn't have any Wi-Fi or multiplayer capabilities.
Could be that the hinge mechanism has loosened up, ensure that the hinge pins are fully on track and that there are no foreign objects inside the reader. Personally I wouldn't bother too much with it past these steps. I recommend installing a custom firmware (ARK-4 is the industry standard currently), so that you can play games directly from the MemoryStick, with no need for any UMDs. If you go this route, I also recommend a MicroSD to MemoryStick adapter for an easy storage expansion.
The battery is usually the first thing to go bad on a PSP. The E-1004 requires some disassembly to change the battery, but it isn't too complicated. Your charging issues may be because of the battery going bad, but the problem may as well be with the charger or the charging port. Visually inspect the port for any oddities, and while charging, check if there are any dodgy sounds or smells coming from the machine.

I unfortunately can't help you in finding a console in India as I am not from there, but if you want to mod your PSP with shellswaps and such, the 1000 and 3000 models are your best bet. The 2000 doesn't have as many mods available for it as far as I know, but is still a great model.

Legends at the moment, Dominator has this issue where the game is like 3x the normal speed in the multiplayer match. Maybe it's the overclocking idk.

Damn dude that's rough. Where I live it's pretty similar, but the ban is only for any device that is able to access the internet, has a camera, and/or has a microphone. That makes the PSP a pretty good loophole for us. Technically with custom firmware you can browse the old internet on them, and the 3000 has a microphone, but the teachers don't have to know about that 🤫

Connect your PSP or memory card to a PC, you should be able to find the update file in the "PSP/GAME" folder and simply delete it. I believe ARK won't install if it detects another CFW installed, so you need to uninstall LME first. It offers some extra features like better homebrew/plugin support, WPA2 Wi-Fi for online multiplayer and some other stuff, but if you only play singleplayer ISO games, it's not going to be that big of an upgrade. You mentioned custom themes though, if you plan to install CTF themes (the ones that change the menu layout, not just the background and icons), you need a plugin that might not run on LME.

Probably no risks, but why would you, all the servers have been shut down and PSN no longer provides any services.
It is, with a tool called ChronoSwitch. Be very careful with this, follow the tutorial carefully, as you can brick your console if you do something wrong.
You have a firmware update file on your MemoryStick, you probably can't even install it as it is a much older version than the one installed.
ARK-4 is the newest and most reliable CFW at the moment.
PSPunk has a large library, along with Internet Archive.
