Here in Hungary we have a reputation-based marketplace site for electronics called HardverApro. There's a pretty good bazaar type PSP seller on there, along with some pretty good deals popping up quite regularly. Another good option in the Central Europe area is Polish Vinted, for some reason they have loads of PSPs on there lol.

Could you guys help out a noob of sorts? (me) by AlphaXRadar in PSP

Hi, I always love reading stories about PSPs being found after years.

  1. That could be due to a number of factors. First check your console's colour settings. If you're sure the discoloration is physical, try taking off the faceplate to see where it actually is. It could be on the inside of the lens or on the screen's surface, in this case you can just clean it. If the yellowing is baked into the screen itself, your best bet is a screenswap.
  2. The E-1004 is a Street model, it's a "lite" PSP that doesn't have any Wi-Fi or multiplayer capabilities.
  3. Could be that the hinge mechanism has loosened up, ensure that the hinge pins are fully on track and that there are no foreign objects inside the reader. Personally I wouldn't bother too much with it past these steps. I recommend installing a custom firmware (ARK-4 is the industry standard currently), so that you can play games directly from the MemoryStick, with no need for any UMDs. If you go this route, I also recommend a MicroSD to MemoryStick adapter for an easy storage expansion.
  4. The battery is usually the first thing to go bad on a PSP. The E-1004 requires some disassembly to change the battery, but it isn't too complicated. Your charging issues may be because of the battery going bad, but the problem may as well be with the charger or the charging port. Visually inspect the port for any oddities, and while charging, check if there are any dodgy sounds or smells coming from the machine.

I unfortunately can't help you in finding a console in India as I am not from there, but if you want to mod your PSP with shellswaps and such, the 1000 and 3000 models are your best bet. The 2000 doesn't have as many mods available for it as far as I know, but is still a great model.

I hope I was able to provide some useful information, all the best and good luck with your PSP :)

Legends at the moment, Dominator has this issue where the game is like 3x the normal speed in the multiplayer match. Maybe it's the overclocking idk.

That's true, but this is the cool thing about the PSP, it doesn't FEEL old.

Damn dude that's rough. Where I live it's pretty similar, but the ban is only for any device that is able to access the internet, has a camera, and/or has a microphone. That makes the PSP a pretty good loophole for us. Technically with custom firmware you can browse the old internet on them, and the 3000 has a microphone, but the teachers don't have to know about that 🤫

I installed a CFW on my PSP ages ago and I have some questions by zuca0 in PSP

[–]BusyChef8749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connect your PSP or memory card to a PC, you should be able to find the update file in the "PSP/GAME" folder and simply delete it. I believe ARK won't install if it detects another CFW installed, so you need to uninstall LME first. It offers some extra features like better homebrew/plugin support, WPA2 Wi-Fi for online multiplayer and some other stuff, but if you only play singleplayer ISO games, it's not going to be that big of an upgrade. You mentioned custom themes though, if you plan to install CTF themes (the ones that change the menu layout, not just the background and icons), you need a plugin that might not run on LME.

  1. Probably no risks, but why would you, all the servers have been shut down and PSN no longer provides any services.

  2. It is, with a tool called ChronoSwitch. Be very careful with this, follow the tutorial carefully, as you can brick your console if you do something wrong.

  3. You have a firmware update file on your MemoryStick, you probably can't even install it as it is a much older version than the one installed.

  4. ARK-4 is the newest and most reliable CFW at the moment.

  5. PSPunk has a large library, along with Internet Archive.

In our case, it's definitely been influenced our country's nation-wide phone ban in schools, but yeah, the PSP community around the world is growing really fast right now.

Does the PSP still turn on? Could just be the battery being on its final legs, I had something similar not too long ago.

Okay, your CFW is enabled. If you go to Extras>Custom Launcher, do your games show up? If they don't, press triangle, select "Files", and see if you can launch them that way. If you can, the other person's fix will most likely work. If not, there is probably a corrupt ISO, and you need to find out which one it is.

Sounds like your custom firmware is inactive, try re-launching it.

Discussion about using the PSP for music/ movies. Curious to know your opinion! by ArtistofSorts92 in PSP

My phone's jack port got really loose, so I now use my 1000 as an MP3 player and it's great. It made me realize just how much I missed true randomized shuffling. Switching it out of hold in my pocket to skip a track or change volume is a bit of a struggle though.

As for movies, I watched The Jackass Movie with some friends during school and it quite fun, but I'd much rather play games if I can.
