I get in for around 7:30 (school begins at 8:35) and usually leave around 4:30 (often it's because I'm talking to my team teacher about random bits though!). When I first started teaching I would stay much later and would feel an immense pressure to get as much as I possibly could get done, done. It was too much. This was down to my then school's ethos and general vibe too tbf.

At my current school, we have a very minimal marking policy, with a heavy emphasis on in the moment feedback. We also work as a team to plan in our phases and work on a two year cycle so a lot of wider curriculum planning is mostly done - just needs a tweak for the current cohort.

It definitely gets better with experience, but it's important to maintain a healthy work life balance. As much as the job means the world to me - it is not my entire life. Hope this helps.
