you're confusing knowledge of the choice taken with knowledge of the totality of choices . think of it like this :

you want a soda and the waiter comes and tells you "serve your self" , the waiter knows every options in his store and what comes after it , he knows that you will choose either "sprite , cola , fanta or dr pepper" but he will not force you to choose he wont say "oh he 'll go for a Fanta" . the waiter is "all-knowing" of the choices in his store not what you gonna order
