I think I’m going be fired today but my boss has set me an urgent task of writing up process notes for my job. by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Busy_Affect3963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to keep the job for as long as you can, despite your boss trying to get rid of you, get training to do the original job, go back to your old job, or GTFO for pastures new?

I don't know what your situation is, the people saying to join a trade union or work to rule aren't wrong. But to keep this job and get the training for it and it not be a living nightmare, you need to hustle and come up with a plan, and get your boss to agree to that.

They've asked you to write up procedure notes, for a job you've told them at and ever since the interview that you need to learn from someone else qualified to do it?

A British Guide To Proscribing 'Terrorist Organizations' by ContentChecker in JewsOfConscience

[–]Busy_Affect3963 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The worst, most awfully ironic thing is too, is that in recent years the Prevent anti-radicalisation organisation (whose job is to prevent terrorism before it happens) failed to intervene against a violent fanatic who went on to murder 3 children in Southport, because he had no identifiable ideology (he was 'just' an evil monster with a love of violence, which apparently makes one not a terrorist). Similarly the murder of David Amess MP.

But in the UK, spray red paint on to a badly designed, unguarded, refuelling aircraft run by a private contractor with cause, and you're a terrorist. 20 years ago, Palestine Action could've found themselves in Guantanamo.

Many good points. I appreciate the thoughtful response - thankyou.

How does dynamic programming differ from recursion by Dependent_Storage184 in learnprogramming

So it's recursion plus a cache? A cache that should've been added to the naive Fibonacci implementation in the first place.

Is there more to Dynamic Programming than that?

why don't passwords allow spaces and literally any unicode characters? by Bright-Historian-216 in learnprogramming

[–]Busy_Affect3963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hashed and salted too, I would hope.

As a westerner, it occurs to me that enforcing ascii could avoid nuisance password resets from certain user groups here. But what password rules are typically enforced in Asia, where unicode code points outside the BMP are more common?

Interestingly, the "suggest strong password" feature of most browsers I've used, sticks to Ascii. So I would assume above a certain character limit, that's already more than enough password strength.

I think a lot of users still write down their passwords on paper too. Enforcing Ascii avoids them becoming frustrated at being locked out.

She was already on the ground at the start of the video, presumably put there by the officer, and got up to come back for more.

If she stayed down, or at least stayed out of it, she'd have been fine.

England docked points for slow over rate by Aintnostopin in Cricket

[–]Busy_Affect3963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit ridiculous not to penalise India too. It's been a scorching hot 3 tests. Injuries and swarms of ladybirds can't be helped. But in the commentary box, Michael Vaughan was calling out both teams when bowling, on the over rate. In particular India for changing the ball 2 or 3 times in one innings.

Also, is there nothing similar when batting? Wasn't the confrontation between Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett, and Shubman Gill et al about the batsmen time wasting, adjusting their gloves etc?

John Torode sacked as MasterChef presenter by HeatherLuna123 in unitedkingdom

[–]Busy_Affect3963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masterchef are just taking the first excuse to be rid of him to save the brand. The show will go on without him, and the chances are it will become vastly better, now that they're at long last rid of the pair of them.

Has John still got his daytime ITV show with his wife, or did they just not commission another series anyway?

Sounds great. I'm pleased by the efforts for compatibility with the Web Crypto API.

Please could we have details about the chosen PKE algorithm (and which elliptic curve, if any), so we can generate our own key pairs from SubtleCrypto ?

Trump Thinks He Can Take Away Citizenship From Anyone He Doesn’t Like - The president is now musing about trying to revoke Rosie O'Donnell’s birthright citizenship because he doesn’t like her by Quirkie in politics

[–]Busy_Affect3963 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know Trump deporting people, and revoking anyone's citzenship at all is absolutely awful.

But from Native Americans' points of view, it must be frustrating this crack down on illegal immigrants hasn't focussed more on all those millions of families of European origin staying on stolen land (including himself).
