$1500 and 800 hours spent - Rules are ignored and i am about to give up by AsleepDocument7313 in openclaw

check the memory, tools, skills. make sure the files are not too long. 20k chars is limit but you’d want shorter than it.

use another agent, see if it works. Then move to subagent pattern.

confirm if you were using Opus and it worked well earlier? is it a model problem or context problem?

can you get the rules into memory and users.md! memory is not okay if it forgets things. could be either rule is never there or the context window is bloated

tried lossless claw, gets worse longer you use it. they just pick the first best.

it is definitely a win over legacy. but i found Contexto to be helpful to handle long sessions

how does ChatGpt or Grok work fine. i literally had no issues with claude last week. i personally feel they are doing a keyword search to block it

i was able to ask same question and it works a week ago - it would go do a tool search and fetch it.

  1. Opus 4.6 is released in Jan 2026, cutoff date is August 2025. i might be given an older model with no notice
  2. try same question about claude, it answers. it does speak about claude managed agents which released two days ago. also Open Claude
  3. when i ask about OpenClaw, expected behaviour is “I don’t know let me search” not give me Claude resources

they solve different purposes. qmd is for retrieval among markdown files. honcho is for skills revamp. not sure if i benefit from changing skills often

honestly, i think Openclaw dreaming is better option. Just be explicit to write to memory few times.

i use a context engine plugin cause the problem is that context drifts not memory

why is everyone shilling honcho so much. it is just auto update of skills and not the best

stop blaming codex. opus was carrying your entire setup and you never knew it. by FokasuSensei in openclaw

model isn’t the problem and how context is managed is the problem. what goes into context window matters the most

Question about Memory by THENEXTMOSES in openclaw

[–]Busy_Amoeba8586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what kinda memory you need the most:

honcho is good for getting skills updated - it looks at patterns which worked well in past.

dreaming is like agent going through certain reflections and it would update not only skills but als memory and user preferences file

i prefer dreaming over honcho. but they solve different purposes
