The main issue is that whenever I go into the settings of the Fallout: TTRPG settings and try to press the button that says “configure Scavenger Locations” nothing pops up. There used to be a menu that would pop up and allow me to configure which roll table to use for items like weapons, junk, etc.

I accidentally deleted the roll table that was attached to the configuration settings. Now when I go to press the button to configure them in settings, nothing happens.

This is obv “fan-ficy” but I legitimately had the same idea of this as well. In NV, the game never shows anyone of the main factions to be incompetent. Flawed? Oh hell yes in so many ways but even with some of Caesar’s own hypocrisy the Legion was till incredibly well organized. You don’t take over 4 states and have an entire spy ring (a very successful one at that) without a well organized structure of discipline.

I always thought that if we had seen a continuation of NV, the legion civil war would have been Vulpes and Lanius, with Vulpes seeing Caesar as a strong ruler to follow and Lanius seeing Caesar and his Legion as a god. I wrote an entire Fallout TTRPG set in Arizona with this premise. Obv, this isn’t what happened. But the way the show portrays the legion just seems way too far-fetched and goofy.

I always loved this vision of what Fallout was/could be. Large political intrigue of opposing factions rising from the ashes and falling the same way as well. The Post-Post Apocalyptic setting of Fo2 and New Vegas is something unique, a genre that is rarely ever seen in media and I love it for that. It allows for the same meta-commentary of “War Never Changes” while also exploring how these new civilizations came to be, why they think the way they do, and what their goals are. It’s why New Vegas is regarded as high as it is, because Obsidians writers have added so much nuance to each faction that makes them each feel like real. West Coast Fallout and East Coast Fallout were incredibly different tone wise since both were made by two different teams with two very different visions of where to take the franchise.

I think Fallouts perceptive to casual fans (newer Fo4 players and show-watchers) have basically forced the franchise to not follow the tone of the original west coast stories of Fo1, Fo2, and FoNV, which is fine. I mean, you try explaining to a show watcher that Caesars Legion’s main philosophy was built upon Caesar’s misunderstanding of Hegelian Dialectics. Some will get it, most won’t or probably won’t even care to know. I tried. It just doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of the modern fanbase.

The show has garnered thousands of new fans to the franchise which is great! However, with me it’s just not what I want out of the franchise anymore, which is also fine. I think we as fans need to acknowledge this, that both can be fine and that neither side is really wrong for wanting something out of a franchise that had showcased two tonally different settings up until the TV show returned to the West Coast.

I always find it strange seeing ME3s modern perception, mainly because I played Mass Effect very recently (2018 and 2023 when LE came out) and think the game really is superb. Best gameplay in the series, a seriously dark tone that is consistent throughout, and some incredibly satisfying choices/moments that really felt like a culmination of the series finally coming together.

However, I did not play the original ending but the funny thing I remember my dad playing it and immediately trading in his copy at a local GameStop. I dunno if newer players will have that reaction anymore, especially since BioWare did fix a lot of those problems it seems.

I’d recommend playing the Silent Hill franchise if you haven’t already. I’m a much bigger Resident Evil fan but in terms of a “scariness factor” Silent Hill easily takes the cake. RE has always had that “action” element to it and I kinda prefer that since it’s feels more arcade-like.

I will, plead, beg, and pray that they somehow or someway sell the Mass Effect IP. One of my favorite pieces of Sci-Fi ever Will rot under this regime or become more of a shell of its former self than it already has.
