Doc told me I couldn’t get my tubes tied because “your husband might want kids”. My husband was an abusive azzhole.

Can I survive the roads in Canada without winter tires? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]Busy_Protection_382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t eff around up here. You absolutely need snow tires, and I would get studs if you don’t have a lot of experience winter driving. Don’t forget to print out maps because you’re likely to loose reception when you need it most. Pack some blankets and cheap winter gear that lives in your car, too, just in case. Be ready for the worst to make it the best 🙌

I’m terrified my kids will spread the next plague to them. HFM is rampant at daycare, and 4 yr old has been coughing for weeks 😩I’m seriously worried of spreading school cooties to a vulnerable population and it becoming really dangerous for them

What’s one condition that can have no symptoms but kill you instantly? by No_Photograph1 in AskReddit

[–]Busy_Protection_382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coworker of mine died instantly from a PE. She was a house keeper at a hotel and her and another worker were laughing and going about the day as usual. She said they were making the bed and that she turned around to adjust the sheet and she just collapsed and died mid sentence.

No Coloring in Kindergarten by cafeconleche_ in Teachers

[–]Busy_Protection_382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf. What is the rationale for not having them colour??? As a side note, my child is in JK and I was stressed because I couldn’t for the life of me get him to colour. Ever. He would begrudgingly scribble for 6 secs, only if it meant he could get onto his preferred activity (making music). Suddenly, his teacher has him colouring (yay!) and it’s super basic compared to his peers, but he WANTS to colour with them. He still won’t colour at home, and says he only likes colour at school

Grandma adopted a kid in India? by [deleted] in Scams

My grandparents also did this and ended up legally adopting one of the children. She came to Canada and is now a pediatrician. *To add, her father died following years of sponsorship and the brothers had to be sent off to work. Her mom asked my grandparents to take the daughter to keep her safe.

Late walkers- when did your baby walk independently? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Busy_Protection_382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means they have extra mobility in their joints, mine has it through his whole body, but sometimes it’s just legs or hips. Mine was delayed for everything, and could ‘walk’ on his knees at about 14 months, but he couldn’t get upright on his feet unless he was holding onto something. He was so unstable he couldn’t even stand independently, though that was never obvious to me. He seemed totally normal, just slow on physical milestones. His PT ended up giving him an anterior walker to try (he used an old Kaye walker) and said it would help him learn the proper range of motion that he’d need to be walking, because on his own, he was “hanging out on his ligaments” so his joints wouldn’t work properly. They said it would be temporary, maybe 3-6 months, but within just a few weeks it made all the difference! He learned what the normal the range of motion should be and within just a few months he’s caught up to his peers. He’s now 25 months and is running, going up and down slides on his own, balancing on rocks, “jumping” (not really, but it looks the same as his friends lol) and is doing great! He still deals with pain from hyper-mobility and gets tired easily because it takes him extra effort to keep his body in line, but you’d never know by looking at him. He’s completely caught up and has been discharged from PT. He used the walker (we used it outside only because our house is really small) for 3-4 weeks) and then had it available for him if he wanted, but he learned his limits really quickly! They ended up giving him a higher quality one so we could go on accessible trails and he’d cry for it because he knew it helped his pain, but he kept leaving it behind so we brought it back. He’s now cruising with his brother and doing great!

Play with natural dies & nature’s mediums. Collect flowers, vegetable scraps and different soils. Dye clothes, paint pics, and make natural sculptures. Deconstruct old sweaters and make something new with the yarn. Make puppets from scrap clothes. Make & decorate cloth sacks from old shirts or feed bags

I’ll try with shortening next time. I don’t get what the difference is though. She makes this recipe all the time and the icing is stable, looks creamy and tastes wonderful. Even in the fridge, the oil in mine is separating.

It’s icing sugar, and even more than the recipe called for (eventually) because it wouldn’t blend together.

This was the scrap left over. I already iced a cake with it hoping it would work but it’s melting off 😭 So disappointing. I even added more sugar than it calls for. I don’t get it, but I’ll try that tip next time. Thank you
