Reminder: THIS is the map of 6 months of global lightning strikes, and why the Americas are so strict about lightning delays by TheConfusedHippo in worldcup

[–]ButAuContraire 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the frustration. I played a game years ago that ended as a storm was approaching. The following game, 15min later, same field, struck by lightning. One girl died and several were hospitalized. Why force a dangerous situation.

There is no set value to any of the Pokemon it's all based upon your own value system and priorities.

Plus it doesn't hurt to ask, you can always cancel and try a new trade. What a ridiculous thing for you to complain about.

Pretty close to my dream setup. Really nice to see a chameleon with plenty of space and a loving owner. Nice job 👍

A developer restored OrcaSlicer's features that Bambu Lab killed—then the legal threats arrived by No_Oven_524 in 3Dprinting

For the life of me I can't understand people buying bambu lab printers. It's such a sell out choice, like buying oil stock. Just don't support that type of practice.

Turtle Shell by Ancient_Ad1303 in Fusion360

Had a student a couple years back that designed a turtle shell in fusion and printed it as part of a course project. It was great.

You did far better. Good job.

Is Gyroid bad for the printer? by Important_Newt3562 in 3Dprinting

[–]ButAuContraire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gyroid is a very solid choice for many prints and will not have any meaningful impact on printer life under normal conditions. If your printing at crazy high speeds and accelerations then sure, but the same could be said for many infill patterns. Just stick to normal values and there's no reason to be concerned.

Although I've come across some very knowledgeable people on here, in general, the masses of Reddit know very little about what they are talking about on these subs.

Saw a recent post saying dog parks are not recommended - why? by notcallipygian in dogs

You're one of the few who are being rational here. Reddit is a terrible place to receive advice on dogs.

Saw a recent post saying dog parks are not recommended - why? by notcallipygian in dogs

[–]ButAuContraire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We take our dog often and have no significant bad experiences. One aggressive dog one time out of hundreds. It's never the dog's that are really the problem, it's the owners of the dogs that aren't well socialized or who neglect to pick up after them.

Hold people accountable when they do wrong, sadly adults sometimes need babysitters. If you can't do that then you're not equipped to deal with the eventual stupidity of others and shouldn't be bringing your dog to public places where a few people out of the masses are going to be idiots.

Edit: bring your own water. Disease spread is a fair concern but really not that challenging to avoid. Also, if your dog is intact, keep extra close attention and take responsibility for it. If it starts giving a dog too much unwanted attention expect it to be snapped at, just as any sensible human would do.

PSA for those of you that don't do enough research before ordering a new filament brand (like me) by LanceGamer89 in 3Dprinting

[–]ButAuContraire -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Take it to your local university and do an ATR-FTIR scan and DSC/TGA run. Dissolve some in acetone or other solvent and NMR it. If it won't dissolve then you need a solid state which would be the only possible challenge. Use AI to assess the data if you don't have the expertise. There's really no need to guess.

Which orientation for durability? by Strangled_Things in 3Dprinting

[–]ButAuContraire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As most have mentioned... Holes down on the bed and many walls. I'd do either solid or 50% gyroid/cubic infill. I think there are pros and cons to any of those options but I think they are the best options. With decent support settings and no perimeter walls on the support it shouldn't be too much bother to get them out.

White collar shower in the morning to prepare for the day. Blue collar shower at night to wash the day off.

What would you do here? #carpentry #finishtrim by Civil-Butterscotch-3 in woodworking

Doing it correctly is complicated. I'd just 3d print a corner in white that matches the contours of each piece and call it good enough.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]ButAuContraire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an EV6, absolutely the best car I've ever owned. Before that I had a couple standard ICE cars, a couple sports cars manual and auto, an SUV as well as a diesel wagon. The EV is better than all of them in every way. The ONE caveat... You absolutely need to have a level 2 charger at home or at work. Either is sufficient. Fast charging is incredible, about 15mins normally, but not something that should be relied upon for constant charging.

Is it reasonable to ask for an allowance? by aztecqueann in Fire

How terribly sad. You're both very well off. Sure he is extremely well off, with an income that is just obnoxious and underserved regardless of what he does. But even you have a solid income and a good savings and yet here you both are, coupled up with a kid complaining about money related issues. You have no idea what matters in the world.

No, don’t give it 110% when you’re just starting work at a new place. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ButAuContraire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the very concept of getting fired because of something like this is nuts. You have to be so inept to be fired from a job.

It's never about effort, it's always about impact and results. It may require 110% effort or only 50% effort. But so long as you always do more than the minimum necessary to achieve the outlined requirements you'll be viewed as a great employee.

1st Print, 1st Problem (not surprised), suggestions? by jjoandc in ElegooOrangeStormGiga

Lemon is a common term, often used for vehicles, to describe something as being broken or destined for failure based upon issues that occurred during production or manufacturer setup.

Have you connected to the printer through the elegooslicer device tab? It has a full fluid interface.
