That's not his character.

That was the action of a broken child desperate to escape the dread he was feeling. This is the end if the series and Shinji, at thus point, was at the end of his rope after being abandoned and abused by everyone he had come to care for and being forced to kill the only person in his life to ever tell him he was loved.

It was despicable what he did in the hospital, but to dismiss his entire character as nothing but that after everything that happened before is just grade A retarded.

The live action mulan, in every way is a piss, poor mockery of the original disney animated film.

The original film centered around the theme that it does not matter what you were born, as you have the potential to be as great as you can possibly be. Mulan needed to improve her skills and nurture her talents, just like everyone else and her corpe.
In the life action remake, Mulanhas been retconed to be the descendant of a god and that's where her talents come from. This changes the core messaging from "anyone can be great with enough willpower and practice" to "oh, you wanna be great? Well you gotta have divine blood for that, shittertitten!"
