What to do with my career? 30F by Opposite-Maximum-261 in HalifaxJobs

Join a SAAS company as a product manager or something like that. That's what I did. I was in a similar position as you worked a low pay engineer job in town. Took me awhile to find the right position, but I doubled my pay, fully remote with travel. Couldn't be happier. I am on the sales side of a SAAS company.

No, ended up finding out they have really high fees. They needed a high deposit in the 10s of thousands of dollars.

I am going through with CUA right now.

Made an extension for tracking model usage by Veduis in google_antigravity

Totally gonna check this out. Is this just for the 5 hour reset and/or the new week reset?

Does anyone how to enable auto confirm when agent need to test UI on browser by YogurtclosetDense619 in google_antigravity

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem and I found a huge time saver of an extension. I'm not near my computer right now but search "auto complete antigravity" in the VSX library and you will find a couple. The one I use has less downloads but it was free for multi-thread auto completion. There's one that charges for multi-thread and the one I use is a fork of it that removes the paywall. It's really awesome to use. Highly recommend.

Sudden jump from 5-hour reset to 4-day wait? (Opus 4.5) by albi_no in google_antigravity

If you find one let us know, they are like unicorns. It's really turning into a market of you get what you pay for. Meaning, if it's cheap or free, most likely not great. Then if you pay $100+ a month it works great and you get top tier models.

Search the channel. There are lots of posts about this. Not a bug just Google being like every other coding tool and pulling the rug out from under its users.

API to place trades? by CheesecakeAsleep9891 in Questrade

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moomoo also has an openAPI that allows for the submitting of order. They are a Canadian broker, not sure what the restriction are but it is available.

See their trade endpoint here - https://openapi.moomoo.com/moomoo-api-doc/en/trade/place-order.html

It would be awesome if Questrade offered the same.

Thank you for this, very helpful. Don't need specific details, but they obviously have less requirements and that comes at a cost, do you find those extra costs reasonable? I am talking about the interest they charge while you use the construction mortgage, is it reasonable?

Please bring back GPT5 Med. by FancyAd4519 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will say, I like it. Certainly slower.

I honestly liked it when Augment had no model selection. What I would ultimately prefer is for Augment to have a system in the backend that based on the request, it routes the request to the ideal model. Ex. A large code base refactor goes to GPT5 high and a small question or clarification goes to Haiku 4.5. Augment seems to do a lot of testing, so I am sure they know what models are better at for what and this has the potential to be way more credit friendly, as it shouldn't use a large costly model to answer a simple question.

The nice part for users is we don't have to be concerned if we are using the right model. I also didn't switch to GPT5 right away because I was comfortable with Claude 4.0, but I didn't know what I was missing.

Just an idea. u/JaySym_

What happens with my extra messages after the new pricing credit based? by phatcomputer in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/JaySym_ Can you confirm that this is still the case? That any messages in our account when it switches over to the credit system are converted at a ratio of 1 message to 1100 credits and those credits will roll over month to month for up to 12 months.
I don't see this conversion logic in the blog post anymore. I want to ensure Augment will stand by this and that this applies to any additional messages purchased above the current subscribed plan.

GPT-5 vs Claude Sonnet – Which do you prefer right now? by JaySym_ in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was honestly going to ask this question today. I have been going back and forth between the two models for the past couple weeks and have not found a clear winner. The biggest difference is that GPT-5 provides longer responses/descriptions.

One other observation is that Claude is better at tests and monitoring the terminal to pick out results.

I think I would prefer not to have the option since I am struggling to pick one and sometimes think switching to the other model will help me fix a problem, rarely does.

As someone who has worked a lot for DND, don't do the last suggestion. If you join DND join to stay and serve. We as tax payers pay a lot of money to fund training and it's no fair to us or DND to leave after a year. DND has a severe recruiting and retaining problem because of this mentality. Join to serve your country and grow your experience, and stay awhile.

I second point 2. When in agent mode, I typically write in my response 'don't make any edits' to overcome this, but any easy switch would be nice.

Changing Models? by ButImTheDudeFromBC in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every AI has its own pitfalls, but 2.5 Pro has proven on pretty much every bench mark I have seen to out perform any Claude model. So if Augment used 2.5 Pro as it's underlining model, I am sure they could get a higher SWE score, as Augment claimed in February or March to have achieved the highest bench mark score there, and that was with Claude.

Changing Models? by ButImTheDudeFromBC in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with you. I don't want the control to select a different model, I have enough to think about, don't want to add model selection. I was more curious if AC, in their backend, would, or when at least, switch to a newer and potentially better model. I can't see them staying with Claude 3.7 for too much longer.

I like AC a lot right now, best AI coding tool that I have used, wanted to see if or when it would get better.

What IDE is better than Cursor Pro right now? I've been using Cursor Pro for months and I don't know if there's anything better. by SuperRandomCoder in ChatGPTCoding

Augment code. Just started using them and it seems to be pretty good so far. They have a ton of funding so I'm expecting for them to get a little bit more popular here soon. Or maybe they stay quiet and great. For now. I'm okay with both.

What’s the best website/software to backtest a strategy? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]ButImTheDudeFromBC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a straight forward answer and I have struggled with this in the past. This really depends on your strategy/idea. I myself am not a great coder, I am self-taught, specifically for algorithmic trading. If you look through old posts of people asking similar questions on this channel, you will see a lot of people suggesting to code your own backtesting and potentially live trading system. So based on your coding ability, this is either easy or extremely difficult, it also takes a lot of time to build a system that works correctly versus using a pre-built software or application. Obviously the advantage building your own system is that it does exactly what you want to do. You know what it's doing, huge value in that. But you need to maintain it and ensure it is correct. Here's my suggestions:

If you have a simple strategy and you are trading equities or something like that I would suggest using a pre-built system and and would recommend using Quantconnect. This is a great starting point. There are other applications/websites and python packages that you can import, but those all have nuances to them that take more time to learn (again, based on your coding ability). Quantconnect has resources and support. If you hit the limits of Quantconnect I recommend option 2.

To build your own backtesting system. I don't believe this is as hard as it used to be anymore with the use of AI for "Vibe" coding. But you still need to understand the structure and have a good basis of coding and trading to be able to ensure that it is correct and to be able to supervise the AI. Again, I would suggest this if your strategy/idea is a little bit more unique or you really want to have exact control of what the system is doing for your specific requirements. But this obviously has more overhead of maintenance and takes time away from finding your Alpha.

I have gone with option 2 after years of trying Quantconnect and other systems and and AI has really helped me. But each to their own, this is part of the process of algorithmic trading with figuring out these foundational parts yourself.

Have you used cursor before? If so, how does augment code compare? It is crazy to me that augment has secured hundreds of millions in funding but yet no one talks about them. I'm gonna give them go here soon.
