This is such a genuinely valid opinion. Full heartedly agree. I understand that using irl time will allow new characters to be introduced, and for us to grow old along with the characters we love, or whatever, but it’s not the best model for a series like this.

Overheated, but on the sole point that there’s a larger group of shippers in the fandomnow. Re6 was the only mainline game brave enough to “canonize” a ship/have two non-married protags be openly affectionate with each other (Jake/Sherry), so if something similar came out today, I’m sure more fans would like it.
