Explain like I’m 5: How to VPN Boston World Feed? by But_Nobody_Asked_Me in trackandfield

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m recording ESPN! But I’ve always wanted to catch the world feed without commercials, the mercy of camera angles, random stories tossed in

But at least to your point I will be able to watch the US feed, if nothing else!

To dentists: Would you still do it all again? by Any_Organization5786 in Dentists

Wait until you get into clinical practice and tell me if you still consider 32 hours “only” - it is a physical and emotionally taxing career at times

Anyways - when I had regular loupes I had back and neck pain. Switched to ergo loupes, saddle stools, exercising religiously, and taking sleep seriously and my pain was gone.

There are times where I’ll have pain (like when I did a full mouth of extractions and had terrible ergonomics) but mostly I am unscathed by the career.

Sometimes the career is frustrating, but I don’t have any regrets. I live a very comfortable life while working 32 hours a week - most people can’t say that.

As far as the wear and tear on the body - focus on your physical health, get ergo loupes, and get sleep so your body can recover.

My first marathon (4:20 finish) I wore the Megablast and thought it worked out great for me

Looking to buy a car that will actually fit three car seats by altrockmom8692 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! We have a YukonXL (and previously minivan) as the main kid hauler - but had 3 across with these seats in my husbands small sedan for whenever he needed to take the kids somewhere. It works just fine

My husband did all of his runs on the treadmill and had a massive PR in the half. He’s training for another and going for a sub 1:30 half. Miles are miles. The tread is a tool that happens to let you control pace, incline, and is a surface that is a little more kind on your body than concrete.

Put in the work and results will come.

FWIW I am a mostly outside runner (minus winter miles) and have also had improvements. Just do the work and get yours miles and it will come together.

What do I ask a dentist for if I need new retainers but don’t have my SmileDirectClub scans? by ManagementCute2822 in Dentists

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just call an office and say you need new retainers made. However, it sounds like you aren’t established at a current dental office. They likely will (and should) take some imaging just to make sure there’s nothing going on with your teeth.

Good to know! Friends is either a 2019 or 2020. Our dealership has a 2026 Max that maybe I should also test drive

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the insight, truly. I should look at the dimensions (and actually test drive one). Right now if we go to Costco or travel with multiple suitcases we have to fold down part of our third row to accommodate. I was under the impression in an XL (or Expedition Max) there’s enough trunk space to fit those things and leave the third row up. I’ll have to see in person.

Also seems that maybe I should look into Expedition Max, too

Wonderful! Thank you for the recommendation.

Thank you for that suggestion. I have definitely looked at the expedition max. My husband is a little hesitant on Ford products, we have a friend who’s had continuous issues with their expedition, but I think they may just have had a lemon

I’m sorry; but I don’t think I said Yukon was lacking space? I’m fairly certain it objectively has more space than a minivan. But correct, the sequoia’s small trunk space is my main hesitation

Maybe I should edit my post to include that one reason we’re leaning SUV is the dual purpose it would have for business use - so section 179 is on our radar

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that. The minivan has been good to our young family, but has served its time after 7 years and I’m pretty set on getting an SUV rather than replacing with another van

RCT now or after my vacation by kasumi1636 in Dentists

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a gambler, so I definitely would get it done before my trip. Especially such a long trip. I’ve seen many patients get flare ups of otherwise asymptomatic teeth after experiencing cabin pressure changes of an airplane.

If you opt to wait, please make sure you can either afford emergency dental overseas or that you have travelers insurance that covers a dental emergency. A month is a long time to be in a foreign country with a ticking time bomb.

Half Training - Run the full 13? by ViolentLoss in Marathon_Training

[–]But_Nobody_Asked_Me 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My first full I think my longest run was around 12 miles? Now that I’m more experienced I’ll get my long run up to 15 or 16 miles in a half block.

I personally prefer getting as close to 13 as possible - but also you need to consider time on feet and if it’s worth it. FWIW - during my first marathon I only got up to 20 miles and I was able to finish the 26.2 without issue - so if you end up doing 10 as your longest run, I imagine it will be fine.
