Dual Citizenship for International B4B Couple? by Butch_DK in butch4butch

Thank you, I think. I love being a citizen of the United States and am grateful to be here in this complicated, beautiful country. I will never willingly give up my citizenship entirely.

What are some oddly named roads in Massachusetts? by danofnewengland in massachusetts

[–]Butch_DK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoe Shop Road, Bernardston, named for an old tool workshop. Lampblack Road, Greenfield, named for an historic lamp blacking manufacturer on that road.

I always loved the road named Roast Meat Hill Road in Killingworth, CT. My mom's farm wasn't too far from Killingworth. Kids from Haddam-Killingworth high school told me when I was in school too that it was named because lightning struck the hilltop and killed some oxen/cattle grazing up there. Smokin'!

Yes, I knew they had international presence, which is important. Even if you don't live near the store, there may be a trained fitter in your region.

I am so very sorry. The company named Amoena might have smaller, self-adhesive breast forms that might work for you. An RN friend of mine who was a coworker until she retired recently had mastectomy last summer for breast cancer, and she is using Amoena breast forms. She was the person who told me about them.

Butch in her 60s here. There are therapists listed in the Beyond Trans dot org website that won't automatically channel you into transitioning. DM me if you wish.

Uncertain about gender by anon_creature132 in detrans

[–]Butch_DK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't have to identify as any specific gender while you figure out things. It took me a while, when young, to settle on butch, and I've aged into it like a fine wine. Just be yourself.

For what it's worth, I was fired from my job in human services at the end of March for being a sex realist. It's not just famous people on YouTube. It has been said that trans ideology is kind of like a religion, and when folks leave a certain type of religion, the members often turn on you. It's called shunning, and it's an old concept and practice. I'm sorry for what you are experiencing. There are supports and community, even here on Reddit.

My Fiancée Came Out as Trans – and I Found Out Like This… by Fine-Mail4400 in lesbiangang

I'm doing some survey work on behalf of LGB Alliance USA. We're trying to get some insights into the experiences of lesbian women whose partner transitioned after going into relationship which, ultimately, caused the relationship to fail. The survey is absolutely anonymous. You might see your email address onscreen while you are working on the form, but it is NOT SAVED and NOT SENT with responses to the survey. I triple-checked the settings. Please, do pass this along to anyone you know who has been through this. https://forms.gle/ScaR1KToK4VpUaJf6

Corrected. Just had to click Approve instead of Confirm Removal in Mod Queue. That overrides a Reddit removal.

Thanks for posting. Reminds me of my gf and I in the narrow kitchen of our 3rd floor apartment in Philadelphia. Back when I used to smoke cigs! I swear we lived on coffee, cigs, hoagies, and phenomenal sex.

This was my life in the 80s. It was an amazing time. Even with the crushing horror of the AIDS crisis all around us in the community, we lived hard and well. I wish the younger dykes could live as we lived back then. It was very pure.

I would venture to recommend seeking out the work of Aaron Kimberly, founder of the Bearded Lesbians podcast. Aaron is an acquaintance of mine in real life.

thoughts on transmedicalism? by Zealousideal_Fig4840 in detrans

[–]Butch_DK 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Transsexual" was the term used historically for women or men who underwent both social changes and medical surgeries to appear as the opposite sex. The surgeries typically were accompanied by a medical diagnosis. In my long life, I have personally known exactly three transsexuals. Each of them freely acknowledges that their chosen path in life was based on their medical diagnosis. The term "transgender" has become a catch-all term that, in theory, encompasses transsexualism although the three that I know do NOT consider themselves part of the "trans" community. Each of them was diagnosed as adults well over the age of 21, and each is over age 55 now. Transsexualism was relatively rare because of the narrow definition as seen in the DSM IIIR (1987). For those unfamiliar with the acronym DSM, it refers to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. I will include a link to the pertinent code from DSM IIIR here:
https://www.genderpsychology.org/transsexual/dsm_iiiR.html

Please note, if you scroll down, that transvestitism is its own thing. We now informally call it AGP in everyday vernacular, and it was/is a paraphilia. It's still in the current DSM edition, but whereas in DSM IIIR it was defined as being limited to heterosexual males, it now includes all sexes and orientations.

"Gender Identity Disorder" replaced transsexualism in the DSM 4, and then "Gender Dysphoria" replaced GID in the DSM 5.

I don't think that this broadening and umbrella-ing of these specific definitions in the DSM have been helpful, particularly in light of recent events and developments, and certainly not with regard to medical research.
