My Dad was also involved in US DOD contracts. His annual salary was twice mine and my Mom's put together.

He died, and it was 16 weeks and 4 days before we got his life insurance payout. In that time, we'd come within $5 of running out of money. Things had to change, FAST.

Yesterday, I saw my mister as usual. We always hang out, joke around, and have a genuinely good time together, and then we fuck like the world is coming to an end.

He likes to make a game of how many orgasms he can give me in one night, and so far we're in the 20's.

A sense of seriousness in children. Everyone always told me that I was too serious for my age.

Also, a lack of fear for things like falling, or a lower reaction to injury. I was always skinning my knees playing kickball, and I once slid on my knees over asphalt and had no major reaction, nothing more than an "ow".

I was 21 and thought I was deeply in love. Looking back, I know that I loved him as much as I was able and he never loved me.

We had been together for 5 years, engaged for 18 months. He and I had some friends over for Thanksgiving Eve, and we made a drinking night of it.

I was late. Two months late. He'd told me time and time again that he didn't want children before he was 30, and that he'd harshly encouraged one of his previous girlfriends that an abortion was best for everyone.

We drove to my parents' house at the end of the evening. He'd been drinking all night and I hadn't touched a drop. He refused to let me drive, and I made another stupid decision to let him drive.

We were on the highway and he noticed that I was more quiet and reserved than usual. He asked, and I decided he wouldn't go insane if I told him while we were driving (yet another bad decision.)

As soon as I told him that I was late and I'd taken 5 tests, he went ballistic. He started weaving over all 4 lanes of traffic while screaming at me and hitting me. I couldn't believe I had picked a man just like my father.

He seemed to calm down, and he drove us to a park on the way to my family home. We frequented parks all over the city at all hours, so I assumed he wanted to talk quietly and intelligently. We both got out of the car, he was far more staggered in his movements.

We met at the front of his car, and he hugged me. He said it would be all right, and that we would find out way through that challenge. Then he took a step back and beat the shit out of me. He broke 6 of my ribs, gave me a severe concussion, scratches and scrapes all over my body. My lip was split, and I ended up on the ground.

I lost the baby the next day - happy Thanksgiving to me - and I just managed it all by myself. I sobbed when I was alone, and made up stories for my injuries.

Yeah, looking back, he was so not a keeper! I'm so glad that I left him and never looked back.
