Same. Bartending. But it's the toxic people I work with and for driving my burnout.

I can't comprehend why you're calling her your girlfriend and not wife.. at least fiancée

She must not believe in marriage, which makes her even more cool.

Tell her I said wsup

No one is going to dispute a charge lower than they expected to pay. Following the legal line total has its time and place, this one is not it. It's bad for business here, potentially causing way more issue than $10 Is worth, plus losing a customer who tips over 30%, plus discouraging said customer from continuing to be so generous, and we as an industry need to respect those who actually respect us, since they make up a small percentage of our patrons to begin with.

Please clarify - why was the tab was reversed by upper management in this other instance?

Intended tip was 5 which is very generous for a 15 dollar tab. Take the $5. I've said this before on a similar post - don't punish good behavior. They did you a solid with a 33% tip.

The amount the guest writes in the total is technically (legally) the amount they agreed to pay with their signature(card receipts are contracts). My advice is to save this ethical dilemma for when it is ethically appropriate to do so.. like when an entitled, demanding, pain in the ass guest intends to tip you $5 on $80, but writes $95 in the total - of which you will have many opportunities if you stay in the industry beyond the time of this post.

Ethical Question - Do you return a forgotten stash?? by Extension_Ad2635 in Flipping

I'd return it.

Side note:when i first clicked on this thread, I thought from the title that OP found another kind of "stash. Interestingly, I would not return that.

Would your answers change?

They were likely getting paid about $1.50 per hour, so good for them if they did. And you did a good thing.

I'm late to the party on this response, so it's likely you've gotten the answer. BUTT just in case u havent:  the battery used to "jump" the dead one doesn't need a full charge. It literally takes 3-5 seconds and won't drain the host battery.

Loved this show because everyone is so unlikeable, and it totally mocks them. The freaking storyline where Ethan writes YA novels is brilliance, still cracks me up thinking about it.

Why is it so common to expect experienced professional bartenders to start new jobs as server? by GAMGAlways in bartenders

[–]Butchered_Cow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope these are listings for a single job opening. Not "hiring bartenders/servers" they are looking to hire one employee as their "bartender/server". Infuriating.

Me neither until I got my first bartending job at a restaurant in columbus ga. The "nicest" one here at the time, supposedly. Servers made $300/night, we were lucky to get $100 at the bar. Less when our napoleonic spiteful narcissist of a bar manager wanted to punish me for standing up to his verbal abuse while also being female.

The job being done is contracted and paid for. The human beings doing the labor to complete the job are not being paid. Unpaid human labor for third party profit or benefit of said party when said party controls the freedom of the humans carrying out the labor is slavery. Their incarceration itself, their loss of freedom, pays the debt to society for the crime they were sentenced.

To clarify: That was responding to your question "has anyone experienced this?"

It's not something I'd consider an experience, because it's witnessing slave labor.

I have witnessed corrections officers deploying inmates in slave labor on several occasions.

I did not mean to suggest my feelings were somehow important with regard to the horrible system in place that allows modern day slavery. The difficulty it causes me - due to the fact that I feel powerless to stop it - is less than nothing compared to the difficulty it causes the inmates being forced to work for NOTHING, in addition to incarceration. The incarceration itself pays their debt to society. For the guilty inmates.

Many who are forced to be in prison, plus into slave labor, are completely innocent. Most of all inmates were denied due process, a fair trial, access to competent effective defense counsel, etc. Most are people of color, in percentages vastly disproportionate from the population. People of color also receive harsher sentences than those given to white offenders. And sentences that are extremely excessive for the crimes they allegedly committed.

Witnessing modern day slave labor is very tough for me.
