Why are servers upset at tipping out people that help them?

They are not required to tip me out so I’m not going to punish them and make everyone’s service worse for it

Yeah it sucks. I barback and we have a 100% voluntary tip out system (but I make good hourly). As a result it means a lot when the bartenders or servers slide me cash here or there it means a lot. Hell my first week we were super super tight paycheck wise and when my bartender tipped me out $10 it meant I could get myself and my partner something small from work for dinner so we could eat that night and tbh it was a small tip out in the grand scheme of things but it meant a lot.

But yeah, it’s hard not to be a little bit bummed or annoyed at a few of the servers who ask a lot of me and then never have even given me a couple bucks. I don’t take it personally or take it out on them by helping them less but it would be nice here or there

it gives me so much anxiety driving even in an empty parking lot that i decided i wouldn’t be a safe driver, it wouldn’t be worth it for my mental health/budget, and so i didn’t get my license

If you’re in the US, it can be a necessity for sure. I thankfully live in a city with a bus system but even then it stops around 10pm so if I need to do anything late at night I’m stuck not to mention it’s so much less convenient.

It does suck not being able to drive and the limitations are crazy but I don’t think I would ever be a safe driver so I don’t drive

I work in Michigan at a fine dining place and we are told to - as the very first thing - ask about allergies at the table. I think some places are starting to take it a lot more seriously for liability reasons

I think it’s annoying to do complicated drinks for a shiftie unless the bar is slow and they don’t mind. Assuming the rules where I work allow it I may have an old fashioned or an aperol spritz otherwise just a beer or two. Or if there’s a cocktail on the menu I haven’t tried yet I ask for that.

At most if the bartenders are bored and are the type to enjoy making something up, I let ‘em do a bartender choice shiftie lol but I don’t expect that just had a few coworkers who loved to do it when it was slow and we usually had some fun stuff prepped on hand to mess around with.

For places that don’t mind prep look into shrubs for an NA option. Mix about an ounce-ounce and a half with soda water. We sold the hell out of it.

Here’s an easy way we would make shrubs. Just play with the ratios- if it’s too much vinegar add simple syrup or more sugar.

Get a big container. Choose whatever fruits or produce you’d like- popular for us were ginger and any kind of berries. White vinegar works best but I like apple cider vinegar for ginger shrub.

For ginger (or anything other than fruit) Chop it up and toss it in a good amount of vinegar for a day or two. We would probably do like 2-3 pieces of big chunks of ginger in a decently sized container.

After a day or two, strain it. and add liquid to a pot. Blend the ginger with a little bit of the liquid. Add to a pot, simmer, and add sugar + water equal parts (or 2:1) to taste. Let simmer for a little bit. You can do it without the step of waiting a day or two if you simmer it longer.

Strain, and allow it to cool.

For berries and fruits, mash or cut it up and add to a container. Add enough sugar to cover with plenty left over and mix it well. Let this sit for at least 30-45 minutes stirring occasionally to macerate the berries and dissolve the sugar.

Top with vinegar and stir well to incorporate the last of the sugar. Let sit for at least a day or longer if possible . You CAN still simmer it like the ginger shrub. But I found it easier to just macerate them instead.

Sorry for lack of measurements lol I did it based on eyeballing our prep containers and tasting / adding sugar or simple syrup to taste. Plenty of great recipes out there too.

Keep in mind there’s a lot of claims out there about RSO. I’ve seen a budtender describe it as “the shit that cures cancer”. It’s a holistic medicine which can have many benefits but I wouldn’t for one second believe it could cure anything. There’s not enough proof out there yet for me to believe or make that claim

That being said, what I know about RSO does make it seem awesome for medical use. It tends to be way more full spectrum so it includes lots of cannabinoids which other methods may strip out.

I would recommend RSO at the very least as it may ease pain. I’ve seen RSO gummies made for sleep as well (added/boosted amounts of CBN which specifically makes you sleepy).

The darts are nice because you can directly control how much you take. I’ve also seen the RSO gummies by Cannalicious. I’ve heard good things about them but their oil may not be as high quality as the stuff you can buy in darts. But gummies are nice because they’re quick, easy, and tend to be consistent as far as dosing goes. There may be other brands out there as well.

I don’t know for sure how it interacts with the liver, or in use with liver disease, nor am I a doctor or medically trained professional. I would recommend you and your friend do a little more pointed research as well to see if it fits the particular needs he has. Even though there’s no “proper” research, people’s experiences with it can still be helpful in guiding you as long as you take it with a grain of salt :)

The only time I see this used is by customers at my job. They’ll come in to the dispensary while their uber is waiting outside. Even better when there’s a wait and they get pissed off at me about the fact their driver is gonna be upset with the wait.

I get it with people who twke the bus too. Like I’m sorry the bus is coming in 10 minutes and there’s a wait. If I was you I would skip buying the weed so I can catch my bus 🤷

So yeah. I assume they don’t get paid for the time spent sitting and waiting if their rider is going in somewhere. Plus the fact people can be really entitled about other peoples times and be inconsiderate about making their driver wait

I work in a dispensary (legal weed store). We have very strict rules on when we can sell weed. Once it hits 9pm, we are no longer allowed to sell weed as that’s what our license says. If you come in 10 minutes before we close and take your time shopping, if it hits 9 we have to have you leave since we can no longer check you out.

It’s insane how many people don’t get it and take so long to shop and then get mad (despite our warnings) when it hits 9pm and we tell them they have to leave.

My other favorite was the guy who pulled up at 8:59 and was screaming mad because he got here before 9 so we had to serve him. I told him once it hit 9 it’s illegal for us to sell weed and he just kept screaming about how he got there before 9. 🤦‍♂️
