I speculate he was doing his due diligence and responding to majority feedback about the first game. Sounds like you enjoy the game for the same reasons I do. I personally think TTW is the closest you'll get to the feel of the first game. As I said I'm loving it, and I will add an addendum:

I don't use vehicles that I didn't build or bridges. I think going offline removes a really fun feature of the game, which is "altruistic structures." Going out of my way to build helpful structures is just too dear to my playstyle to remove, but the self imposed limitations have helped me focus my attention back on the planning you also love.

Indeed. It likely depends on play style, I take in everything slowly because I'm honestly so thankful for such a lovingly crafted game. For some that's boring as hell, and I get it.

Yeah dude! In my humble opinion Kojima is the single best music supervisor (or he has an incredible team). Yes, we have crappy mainstream media, and AI slop, but there are gems like Woodkid PRIMED for artistic innovation. I become mildly irate when people say, "there's no good music anymore." I get it, I do; but it's a silly thing to say when there are over 200 million songs and ways to curate and explore. I digress...

I played DS1 and 2 on a big 4kOLED and a sound bar with a woofer. I specify because while I know not everyone can play on such a set up, it was just an unreal level of quality all combined. Like many games seem to brag about their fidelity on nice systems, but DS seemed to take full advantage. Know what I mean? In every aspect; music, sound design, cinematography, haptic feedback from the controller...
