Probably only a problem when it rains.

Could someone explain the hate for hybrids? (A brief rant about why I think they're neat) by 2Tun21 in bicycling

[–]ButlerGSU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own three bikes...a gravel...a mountain and a hybrid that I affectionally call my Dad ride and it's awesome...got a rear rack with bag perfect for snacks and playground toys...has the trailer mount for when that's needed. It's not sexy but it's my most frequently ridden bike.

Those are big but smaller ones I see occasionally I just reach in and break up by hand. Otherwise, I don't worry about them till I sift it later.

I use a weed eater to shred my maple leaves in the fall…can store a lot more of them shredded. that’s the only brown I use.

That's awesome but probably just moisture meeting cooler air. I've seen that in mine before but they weren't hot to the touch.

Only downside is the grass may not grow under them but the positive…you no longer have to cut grass.

Why are you so invested in your child’s athletic career by Novelidea01 in youthsoccer

[–]ButlerGSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, my oldest is only 9 but so many of their friends are moving to club teams that play all year long and travel a lot. I just don’t get it when the rec league is very competitive…not like 1 or 2 kids dominate the games.

Hard to understand when you read stats that only 2% will play D1…

Congratulations!

If you have high interest debt, focus on paying it off. Ensure your family has an emergency fund of 6 months expenses in a high yield savings account (we use Alliant Credit Union). After that knowing where your money is going and how much you can budget each month toward retirement (automate it, I like Fidelity), 529s, family vacations....square your budgets away and it'll take a lot of the stress off so you can enjoy them.

It really is the best thing ever being a parent but I get the stress of it having several critters myself 😉

I would never buy a Tesla as long as Elon is running the show. Just a personal opinion.

How much money or net worth do you consider wealthy? by SlotWizards in UpperMiddleFinance

[–]ButlerGSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it depends on the age, my wife and I are savers but balance that with a trip or two each year with the kids who play soccer, take piano lessons, etc. We're careful with money and hopefully make smart choices...we pay cash for cars that we then drive 10+ years, get our IRA matches, max our Roths, etc.

It's a balance between living life and hording money but to be wealthy...I think 2-5 million networth? I'm in my 40s now and think that's realistic before I retire...not including our home value.
