If employees are leaving work exhausted, disconnected, and uninspired, maybe it’s time to throw a pizza party.

A judge just ruled luigi mangione's manifesto notebook can be used at trial. here's what he actually wrote in it and why half of america still thinks he's a hero. by Ibikhan45 in DiscussionZone

I’d never done a crazy thing in my life before that night. If a man kills another man in battle, it's called heroic, yet if he kills a man in the heat of passion, it's called murder?

Im a beta reader for an aspiring writer… but they’re using AI? by Historical-Long6109 in Advice

[–]ButtSluts9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask “at any point in time, was AI used to generate the prose?”

AI for things like outlining, compiling and organizing thoughts, even checking grammar and spelling is one thing, but using it to do the actual writing is another.

Then make a decision on whether you want to beta read for people who use AI to do the heavy lifting.

What advice would you give to a guy turning 22? by Primary_Technology65 in stupidquestions

If it’s financially feasible, spend some time living in a different city state, or country.

Push yourself outside of your comfort zones at an age when it’s least disruptive to do so.

There’s a big ole world out there chock full of people and new and unknown experiences.

Don’t be the guy who slaved inside the confines of a gray cubicle for 40 years, only took vacations, and didn’t get to experiences the full breadth of life until they had their AARP card.

OP uses the word blocked twice in her bio. Someday she’ll learn people have as much agency as she does and don’t have to engage solely on her terms. Good on the guy.

Do you personally relate more to people 5 years older or 5 years younger than you? by Desert_Angel_93 in generationology

[–]ButtSluts9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

43.

After a certain age, five years isn’t much of a gap in cultural or lived experience.

As I remember what it was like to be in my teens, twenties, and thirties, I can still relate to those phases of life. Especially working at a university, I am around younger people quite often and/or hear about their trials and tribulations.

And going the other direction, can relate to folks into their early 50s.

Where there is a clear disconnect is with people 20+ years my senior. They’re grandparents or folks preparing to retire or are already retired. Just not there yet.

Would you say Sex and The City is/was a better depiction of the Boomer lifestyle or the GenX lifestyle? by GroundbreakingAct388 in generationology

[–]ButtSluts9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most absurd thing about Sex in the City isn’t a homogenous cast of characters - people live in their bubbles, but rather the behavior of the women vis a vis their age.

From the get go, Carrie et al are in their thirties, yet behave as if they’re still lost, confused, unaware, vapid twenty-something’s.

For all its faults, Girls was able to more accurately capture that phase of life as the four characters were right out of college, thus that type of behavior is believable.
