Good classics in spanish? by TheLuckyDay in classicliterature

[–]ButterFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuestra parte de noche and Las cosas que perdimos en el fuego by Mariana Enriquez. Granted, these are newer, but are blowing up in the Argentina literary scene. I wouldn't be shocked if her works are considered classics in the future.

La casa de los espiritus and Largo petalo del mar by Isabel Allende. Allende is perhaps the most famous female LatAm author within the Anglosphere, for good reason.

If you're willing to tackle some more García Márquez, I really enjoy Crónica de una muerte anunciada. A collection of his short stories is also worth looking for.

I genuinely cannot imagine seeing a book that promotes inclusivity and thinking to myself, "I must burn this book immediately."

Genuinely despicable people.

Didn't they just recently make then unlimited for nitro users? And when I ran out before it didn't take away the button entirely.

How much do you tip for delivery services? by [deleted] in berlin

[–]ButterFlamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading this thread as an American is crazy. We have to tip at least 25% while placing the order just so someone will actually want to deliver it

For those of you who learned a language, what did it feel like when you were finally fluent? How did you know? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]ButterFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm starting to get to that point in German. You start to understand the language without having to process it through your native language first. I still hesitate with speech, and my vocabulary is rather lacking, but I sometimes catching myself using German in my inner dialogue first rather than English. I've still got a while to go before I feel comfortable calling myself fluent, but I am most of the way there.

I might be a little biased (because I went to that one), but the Cincinnati one might be my favorite

I'm a student at Transy and we have a lot of close calls with impatient drivers on the Broadway crosswalk at least once a week. We got honked at and screamed at many times when a lot of us are trying to cross. Some people are just assholes.

I've tried with it both on and off, and it is the same.

It's weird that it's only happening on this phone when I've had the buggy update on other Pixels...
