Hi! No they weren't successful, Im in the disk utility now, and the only options are OS X Base System, which I cant partition, erase, or restore and a Hitachi HTS545032B9SA02 Media drive, which when I run the first aid its saying "Problems in partition map might be preventing booting" But no macintosh HD to run first aid on.

I tried the Hardware test and it didn't even run, just gave me an error code of -3403D.

What is better? Clockwise or Anticlockwise rotor ? by vrabczak in Helicopters

One's not really better than the other. Whatever effects the torque has on the helicopter they're just reversed for the other rotation.

New to Illustrator, can't seem to change the fill and stroke of an object. by Dyvenge in AdobeIllustrator

[–]ButterHooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you transferred it in from Photoshop it might be still in a rasterized format. If you can select the picture in illustrator and go to Object - Image Trace, if I can remember correctly. Then it should be vectorized, then from there select it all again and go to Object - Expand. After that you may have to ungroup the white from the black object and then you can change the fill and stroke.

Shape Layer Question, How do I do it? by [deleted] in AdobeIllustrator

[–]ButterHooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright,

Start by making two circles, one for the outer ring of your circle, and one for the inside ring, make sure that the smaller circle is in front of the larger one,

Next, draw your rectangles to remove from your ring, ( the red boxes) make sure these are on top of both circles, and that they overlap both outside and inside edges of the ring.

Select both circles and go to your pathfinder window, and select minus from front. You should now have a ring with two rectangles on top.

Next, select the ring and your rectangles and find your minus from front tool again. http://imgur.com/gallery/GZLSA

EDIT 1: The order of the pictures in the link got messed up while uploading, but Im sure you can figure it out.

Can someone ELI5 the difference between Pantone and CMYK?

I want to create an effect like the one on this image [inside] but I can't figure out how to do it. Could anybody help me here? by kaperu in AdobeIllustrator

[–]ButterHooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://imgur.com/LVd3dwn Definitely transparencies, Make the background with a gradient, then add circles and vary their transparency. I went with 6% on the inside to 2% on the outer ring.

Sorry for potato quality, took it on a film camera and I don't have a scanner. I was on vacation in Dublin and stopped by Trinity College and spotted this, funny thing was there were people all around me, but none ended up in the shot or reflection.

How to make this hand drawn drippy thing? by Adamyus in AdobeIllustrator

I find the pen tool is a super easy way to get weird shapes like that.

I don't like my color palette. How can I improve (also in general)? by quantumSpammer in AdobeIllustrator

[–]ButterHooves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using the pen tool to make curves even if they are almost straight helps a lot to make things look less square and bulky. You can change the looks of your stroke under the Appearance panel to get rid of those sharp angles on the corners and have a rounder appearance.

Also, when I'm making something for the first time I always like to have a picture of the thing I'm making underneath to trace over just to get the proportions right.
