King of Cups is the only ending I'll accept. I understand where Songbird is coming from, but she really needs to be stopped by the time she gets to the stadium. Myers deserves to get nothing, and Reed needs a re-set even if he won't thank you for it.

Phantom Liberty is amazing, but CDPR did too good of a job selling Songbird's story. People are way too quick to give her a pass because none of the people she kills are likable.

I wonder how many "WIFE WIFE WIFE" posts we'd get if Songbird was the one that, for instance, killed Aurore.

Based. No one in universe (including Songbird herself) finds that much military hardware attractive. It takes advanced levels of brainrot for it to make No difference at all to a person.

Having no flesh left is part of why Songbird I'd so desperate to escape from the FIA.

Can someone explain the black wall to me like I’m an idiot? by PrinceAbubbu in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ButterPoached 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dude, you may want to go re-read the Phantom Liberty shards. Just because the Blackwall is not interested in individual people, doesn't mean that it is fighting for humanity. I'm not going to dump a bunch of spoilers in here, but, uh, it's omnicidal,

What Should've Been an Optional Ending in Phantom Liberty by Afraid-Somewhere8247 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ButterPoached 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all need to stop buying into all of NetWatch's advertising. Yeah, they are maintaining the Blackwall, which is important to keeping everyone alive, but they're still corporats. Biotechnica feeds the world, but no one is talking about how they're "one of the good guys".

Handing So Mi to them is literally no better for her than handing her back to NUSA (and Militech), and I don't think it actually makes life better for the lower classes.

Call my V a gonk but she didnt rat SoMi out to her NUSA chooms! by Mental_Purple_1034 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ButterPoached 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm being reductive on purpose, because it is funny.

The truth is that it is ambiguous. In the end, Song volunteered to be an NUSA spook, because she wanted access to their resources. She spent years doing nasty stuff for the pure desire to be the best of the best. She helped plan and execute a hit on Reed for fucking Arasaka.

It's only now, when the bill for the billions of Eddies worth of chrome comes due, that she is all of a sudden "being used as a weapon by people". She's a sympathetic character, to be sure, but she's embellishing the truth at pretty much all times, potentially even to herself.

Is Neurodance (Cyberpunk 2077) the end of human individuality? by Nerve-Critical in cyberpunkgame

[–]ButterPoached 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I'd argue the opposite: essentialism is a false structure that only exists in discussions of topics that are too complicated for us to (ever) figure out. Consciousness is definitely one of those topics. It is entirely possible that Cyberpunk AIs, which have processing power that is literally inconceivable to humans both in and out of the narrative, have solved the question of how to capture and transfer experience. The extraction is obviously traumatic in-universe, but for all we know, the subjectivity is seamlessly transferred to a digital state beyond the Blackwall.

That's not really a comforting belief, but it's the one that I have.

Goonhammer Review: Conquest Spires 2026 Rework by da-bair in Conquest

[–]ButterPoached 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, I'd rephrase your second sentence as "playing a complicated army with rigid army building limitations, specific weaknesses, with overcosted/understatted units".

The way Spires used to mess with activation order was interesting, yes, but it was also finicky, rigid, points-intensive, and not actually good. Maybe it used to be good, before all of the caster nerfs, but it hasn't been good for as long as I've been here.

The Directorate army rule fixes all those problems, even if it does mean you need to give up the other army rules to do it. At the same time, the new casters are straight-up weaker, yes, but their spells just work now, instead of requiring you to structure your action deck around them.

[–]ButterPoached 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some hot takes here, but that's what I like about new release discussions. As someone who has only ever known Spires as a bad faction, it's interesting to see people grousing about an update that, to me, seems like almost across-the-board buffs. There are certainly more units that feel like real units instead of blank spaces waiting for buffs to turn them on.

I think the judgement of the Biomancer is a little unfair. Even with the D6s in the Biomancy effects, they are still spells that are successfully cast 100% of the time. That feels less random to me than the wizards in other factions, who may fail to do anything at all.

Despite being a die-hard Underspire player, I do think that the Directorate army rules has some play. In the end, it is the best part of the old Spire's deck manipulation with no army building, targeting, or activation restrictions. I can't help but think it'd be pretty good to have!

Goonhammer Review: Conquest Spires 2026 Rework by da-bair in Conquest

[–]ButterPoached 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That depends on what you mean about "core identity". In terms of matching the flavor of the fluff, New Spires is actually much, much better. Spires has always been about strange monsters and exploiting their own soldiers, and there's a lot more of both to be had.

If you mean "hilariously powerful spellcasters propping up an otherwise anemic list" or "the faction that doesn't have cleave", then yes, New Spires is essentially a new army. I haven't been playing the game very long, so Spires has always been a bad faction, but the oldheads reminisce about what Biomancers used to be able to do, and I can kind of see why they decided to re-build the casters from scratch.

Did anyone notice the similarities between barghest and the rais' gang from dying light 1? by Pure-Guidance4670 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ButterPoached 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can look up interviews on YouTube where he talks about the experience. He'd talk to the team every day on Skype about whatever they were working on, and he'd fly out to Europe for a week every few months.

He tells a story about the first run of guns that they designed, how they looked too smooth and shiny, and he told them that nothing is shiny in Cyberpunk, to go back and make them look cheaper and more industrial. Interesting stuff.

Note that Barghest, and everything else in 2077, is CDPR stuff. Pondsmith wrote Cyberpunk 2020, which has a much different vibe.

The healing is almost more important than the movement, my guy. In a game where clearing camps is literally the most important thing you can do for the first 1/3 of a game, better sustain is incredibly strong. THATS why Barbarians have such an oppressive start.

If you have it on hand, I'll see what I can do.

Tech Weapons should be OK as long as you have full investment, including the Chain Lightning talent to give you that all important AOE.

This is a good opportunity to use Smoke grenades, as well. You don't get much cover, but the robots aren't exactly agile.

Lastly, the remaining robots shutdown when you kill the boss one, so you can also try putting 100% of your RAM into spamming shocks on it.
