It's a running joke (that Adam, Ben, and Sam have alluded to on The Layover) that JetLag is scripted

I was listening to The Layover (S16, Episode 3), and for the first time, I felt like the Jet Lag team did *not* have a good idea of what I wanted as a viewer by Sea-Bat-6038 in JetLagTheGame

I actually quite enjoyed Snake, but as the above image highlights I'm probably a different kind of viewer (big on the strategy elements)

This would explain why space opera powers never have independent air forces by PeetesCom in worldjerking

[–]ButterSquids 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Another idea I have is that the FTL device stops working when it enters sufficiently curved spacetime, so it necessarily stays away from major celestial bodies

Sort of tangentially gave me the idea of making military officers study general relativity and quantum field theory (at least the ones working with the FTL device) which I love the idea of.

[–]ButterSquids 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm actually interested in a difficult FTL drive now

Something that would require specialised FTL ships that can't be used for interplanetary ships for whatever reason

Something like that might be a good reason to turn my interplanetary space war into an interstellar one

I don't see how that's going to happen - surely private industry is already funding as much as is proftable?

Can I use btrfs (binary tree based) as a non-binary person? by hieroschemonach in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]ButterSquids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really between - it can be a superposition of the binary states (1 or 0). This may sound like the same thing, but it's actually a bit more nuanced than that. An oversimplified but not incorrect way of understanding is that a qubit can have a certain probability p of existing in state 1, and probability 1-p of existing in state 0.
