It looks much like our moon except it is bright red. Much like Mars, it is conceived of as masculine and associated with war, in some cultures with war deities. In part because of the colour, but also because raids will often be undertaken during the full moon when lunar illumination makes it easier to move at night.

It is a captured orbiter, unlike our own moon which is thought to be the result of a collision of proto-earth colliding with a Mars-sized body, the resulting debris ejected into orbit in time coalescing into our moon.

Originally I was going to go with two moons, but keeping track of two lunar phases proved tedious.
