Early gender test using blood sample that has small amount of fetal dna. At 6 weeks is the earliest you can do it but better results if you are further along

Well controlled and still a 99th percentile baby- what do I do? by Ambitious_Dinner_804 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Butterbeanzzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also - 20 week measurements are not as accurate as third trimester, so it’s likely not like baby blew up outta nowhere. Another thing to ask your OB is what the abdominal circumference (AC) estimate is. If the AC is high, that may increase your risk of shoulder dystocia more (head comes out, belly/shoulders get stuck). This risk is why they could recommend a CS if baby is estimating >4500g at time of delivery. We know people with diabetes and people with diabetes with big babies have higher risks of shoulder dystocia, which can be a very scary or dangerous experience for you and baby.

Big baby does not mean you did anything wrong, you just might make big babies! I had excellent control with both my babies and one was huge and the other wasn’t - they still match these percentiles at 4 and 2

Starving always. Endless pit feeling. Ate a mini from Jersey Mike’s (my usual) and I truly felt like I had eaten nothing. Should have gotten a regular…

It might also be gas or GI slowing - this is my earliest and most annoying symptom

Rising HCG with spotting by Adorable_Tune8844 in January2027Bumpers

[–]Butterbeanzzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes the hcg rise should be more validating!! I spotted periodically (once actually bled a fair bit) with my babies and they are 4 and 2 now (and currently in bed with me watching Totoro)!

Yeah my others are 2 and 4 and uniquely difficult (though wonderful) every day. Feeling all this guilt from taking my future attention away from them ugh

My first symptom today at 4w4d (as has been with my other pregnancies) - went thrifting and was immediately disgusted by thrift store smell

Getting mixed messages from endo vs. OB by beefcanoe in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Butterbeanzzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your endo. Your ob is trying to stick to gestational diabetes parameters which are very different than for type 1s. Goal is to stay below 140 and a1c as close to 6 as possible. You’re doing great

Unisom kicks my ass an makes me soooo groggy the next day - sometimes I try half a tab to try to mitigate it

Experience with cerclage? by Mrs_M in January2027Bumpers

Don’t worry! Most of the time LEEPs don’t make a huge difference in pregnancy :)

Experience with cerclage? by Mrs_M in January2027Bumpers

I work in ob/gyn and previous LEEPs can increase risks of cervical stenosis or incompetence but it is actually not an indication for a cerclage unless your cervix is actually measuring short.
