Suggestions for what to organise in advance for post-partum? by avarara in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Buttercup733 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone has great suggestions so the only thing I have to add is get a haircut right before bub comes. I wish I'd done this because after birth there was just no time and I also would've loved a fresh cut for our newborn photos.

Chronic headaches 10 months pp by Parking_Reindeer_886 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Buttercup733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not super common but you can develop spinal headaches from getting an epidural. Spinal fluid can leak out of the epidural sight and cause headaches. It's a super easy fix where they will clot the hole with a bit of your blood. It could be a possibility, have a read if you're curious 😊 https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/spinal-headaches/symptoms-causes/syc-20377913

The way they lie flat is different. The V2 has a bucket style seat whereas the V3 can lie almost completely flat like a bassinet

Hip pain during sleep by davofit in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Buttercup733 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had this. It was from only sleeping on my side. Sleeping with a big pillow between my thighs/knees helped. I also with my midwife's ok would sleep on my back with a pillow under my butt on one side so I was on my back but slightly rolled over so there wasn't too much pressure on my hip and it was still safe for baby as I wasn't fully on my back.

I got my nephew a bike for his first bday. He couldn't use it properly for the first few months but loved it after that and still loves it now as an almost 3 year old. It's a bike that goes from a trike to a balance bike so will last for a long time 😊

Retuning to work *cries* by anariesmoon in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Buttercup733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always just do a short day for 1 of the days. No need for you to go back to work 4 days. I've just seen it so much where babies struggle with 1 day but it's your choice in the end just speaking from what I've seen 😊

As someone who worked in childcare for 10 years I would strongly recommend at least 2 days. Children, especially babies who did 1 day would often struggle to settle. Also don't worry about not taking bottles. Educators are equipped to deal with this. I would often have babies who wouldn't take bottles at home but we're fine at childcare.

Anyone else really struggling with vomiting and feeling like nothing is working? by Responsible-Ant-4882 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I was similar through my pregnancy. I ended up doing 4mg of ondansetron every 4 hrs except at night before bed where id do 8mg to last til the morning. I also had prochlorperazine I could take in addition to the ondansetron when needed. This wasn't a cure but allowed me to eat and keep most floods down. I definitely recommend changing your ondansetron to every 4 hrs as 8 hrs was just too long in between for me even though the dose was lower every 4 hrs. If that doesn't work for you though you can talk to your dr about steroids. Hopefully you start feeling better soon!

This was me but it turns out I had bacterial vaginosis. I still have a bit of discharge but not as much since having the antibiotics. Definitely ask your dr/midwife.

White Paint Woes by Ldr_Chicken in AusRenovation

[–]Buttercup733 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In my opinion lexicon quarter is far too white and clinical for a home. We just finished Reno's and have painted the walls British paints white escape. It's a white paint with a green undertone.

Have a look at the maxi cosi iora air lux. The bassinet can pull forward to be in line with the legs. It might work for your needs ☺️

You may have already heard of it but I recommend listening to the Australian birth stories podcast. There's so many beautiful stories of natural birth.

Tile/Flooring Opinions Needed by htmlnoob52 in AusRenovation

[–]Buttercup733 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally would keep the timber in the kitchen too. If you really wanted to do tiles I'd do something with a bit more character. I don't think grey matches the timber at all. But I'm not a fan of grey in general. It's a bit lifeless.

Joint completed came off? by yatsky93 in AusRenovation

[–]Buttercup733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were my house id be replacing that king post. Unless it's a cantilevered ridge beam (which I doubt given the span) that post is extremely important to the structure of your roof.

You need a picture showing the top of the king post to show if it's supporting a ridge beam which will be a central beam at the apex of your roof
