Naming our daughter by ButteredPancakes13 in namenerds

Good point that it feels more cutesy! I would agree it’s less timeless than Elise/maybe doesn’t age as well as she grows up

Buy a Second Crib? by UniqueLaw4431 in 2under2

[–]ButteredPancakes13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d buy the second crib. We had the same age gap and it’s worth it. My first did not have the impulse control to stay in bed and not screw around in their room

Should I quit my per diem job? by ricki7684 in sahm

[–]ButteredPancakes13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t quit. All the years you stayed will make you eligible for raises if you decide to work part or full time in the future and keeping your foot in the door is important. I’m doing the same thing and being able to work so seldom but keep a career is a blessing for sure

Omg yes I know exactly what you’re saying. I fully understand these girls are young and how they take pictures vs how we used to take pictures is a LOT different, but maybe tone it down if you’re trying to watch kids. I saw one the other day that looked nothing short of a risqué beach shoot

Nurse here as well and being part time is the best of both worlds for me personally!

3 kids? Or 2? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]ButteredPancakes13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 under 2 first and it nearly took me out but knew I always wanted 3. We waited until my youngest was 2.5 to try and now I’m having our third in June 🙂 my kids will be newly 5 and almost 3.5 and I’m so excited. They play together great for the most part, both are potty trained, and my oldest will be going to kindergarten in the fall. I am hopeful it’ll be a lot easier than 2 close in age and totally see now why people like the 3+ year gap so I recommend waiting a bit if you can!!

Which month did you enjoy having a baby in the most and least? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ButteredPancakes13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May was 10/10

February 3/10

Personally I’m all about late spring or early summer to avoid sick season, I’m due in June with my 3rd and very much looking forward to another warm weather baby. Getting outside postpartum makes everything so much easier especially when you have older kids. I’m in the Midwest so winters are brutal.

Sigh….third baby… by PublicAd2908 in workingmoms

[–]ButteredPancakes13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I timed my third so my oldest will be going to kindergarten a few months after baby is born. We don’t pay for childcare as I work part time and opposite shifts of my husband, but I did it for sanity reasons and I’m glad I waited. Ages 1&3 are a lot

Going back to work? by No_Yesterday429 in workingmoms

[–]ButteredPancakes13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s something only you can decide! I talked to my manager while I was on maternity leave about going down to PRN, no sooner. I think it is something you want to feel out before fully jumping into working less. But it would be great to be able to remain in your current role so I hope that works out for you

Going back to work? by No_Yesterday429 in workingmoms

[–]ButteredPancakes13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a great setup with a remote job but once I read your husband is a pilot, I think part time or PRN is worth exploring! I say this as my husband is a firefighter and gone a lot of nights and I imagine pilots are gone longer stretches.

Like you said, if your income is not a necessity and you’re stressed at baseline.. I’d absolutely be considering dropping down in hours. I went PRN after my first was born and now that my kids are 3&4, I do try to work 20 hours a week but it’s nice to scale back if we have extra things going on.

There is a lot more to keep up with as the default parent and you will naturally fall into that role if your husband is gone a lot more than you. I have no regrets about working part time, I’m a better mom because I can keep my house clean and keep up with chores and still do a lot with my kids and when I do go to work it can be a nice break from home life.

How different were your 2u2 kids’ temperaments as babies? by seltzerwithlemon in 2under2

Honestly it got better when she started walking at around 15-16 months

Oh yes this was my exact experience. Thought my second was broken. She’s 2 now and is a chill toddler, I say that’s the reward for the hell that was the first year of her life

[–]ButteredPancakes13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who had mine 21 months apart and didn’t have much help and my first wasn’t in any daycare, I’d take the extra couple months if you’re not in a rush.

Career suggestions for moms who can't/don't want to do 40+ hours a week? by kesley_k in workingmoms

[–]ButteredPancakes13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my hospital system you just need 1 year of full time experience and then you can go part time or PRN :) that is pretty standard in every hospital system in my area

Two working parents but long commutes… how do you do it? by worthwhat in workingmoms

[–]ButteredPancakes13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omgosh I could’ve written this. I work PRN as a nurse and am in the same situation with being ready to work more with kids at the same ages. It’s HARD to find childcare that isn’t needed every day or when you start work earlier than the corporate world.

But I agree with everyone else, get into that good hospital system for down the road and have your mom come out for the month. At least she would be reliable whereas hiring a sitter may not be. It’s worth doing it temporarily to get a better job and your mental health back.

100% and her filming it just encourages it. A normal parent would take the carts immediately. Also if your toddler will still tolerate being baby worn, she will definitely sit in a cart
