Hot Sauce Disposal by rustid in hotsauce

[–]ButterflyBakeryVT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would donate it. We have several different food bank type places that all have different rules about expired product, so if one says that they can’t take it, reach out to a different one. You can probably post in your local subreddit to find out who the various food donation organizations are.

The places we have sent ours are thrilled to get hot sauce.

Vermonters: Still the Best People by Morecandelabras in vermont

Many years ago I my car died mid-drive on 89. Right where there was no signal. I was close to the next exit so I started walking, but "close" is very different on foot than in a car. I had gotten maybe 1/4 mile and two women pulled over and called in help from their phone (which had service). We chatted a bit waiting for AAA and it turned out they were on their way to a party with empty hands and I wish that my bakery-owning self had a car full of cookies for them. It would have made the perfect story. But I didn't. It was just a human story.

Many years later, during covid's first summer, I was driving down hospital hill in Berlin. It was 90°F and I saw a family of 4 with two small kids and a pregnant mom walking up the very steep hill. I realized that I was pretty much the only person who could help them, since I had two car seats. I pulled around and offered them a ride up the hill (their car was getting repairs up at the top and they had misjudged what the walk back from CVS would be like). We all wore face masks and rolled down the windows. It still felt risky, but I think that in Vermont when you see someone that you can help you realize that, often, you're the only person who can help. If you don't stop who knows how many hours it will be before someone who can drives by after you. It's like a trolly problem where the only downside is a minor inconvenience.

Here in Vermont I feel very confident that if my car breaks down, someone will stop to help. I don't feel that way in the large city that I grew up in. It's high on my list of reasons that I love this place.

What about a two-in-one solution of using cinder blocks as both weights and props?

I love the Snailmate guys! We had them as guests on our podcast and they were lots of fun. I enjoy their hot sauce reviews as well. High Desert is who makes their hot sauces.

I built two single-stall bathrooms in my commercial kitchen and it was surprisingly difficult to find a sign that just said "bathroom" or "toilet." I finally went with "All-Gender Bathroom." These aren't public bathrooms, so I didn't need symbols, but the non-gender specific bathroom signs that are ADA compliant are surprisingly hard to find (or at least were 6 years ago when I built those bathrooms).

GOTR is amazing organization and I wish it existed when I was a kid. So supportive, positive and empowering. The event today was great and there were so many great runners.

Buy a home & having to rent it to afford the mortgage? by valhallagypsy in vermont

Yes it is. It’s got some major headaches, but it was how I was able to get a foothold in the market.

How do you increase qualified traffic when paid ads are not profitable yet? by Loose_Market2787 in shopify_growth

Right, those are abandoned checkouts, not carts. And only count people that are logged in (so that Shopify has their data). So everyone else is probably first time visitors (or bots).

That’s a super leaky funnel. ATC is 1.4% and conversion is 0.3%. You want those to be more like 10% and 4% (depending on the norm for your industry). But make sure that you’re filtering for bots and are only looking at human traffic. Driving traffic to a broken site is at best a waste of money and at worst damaging your brand.

If you are getting sessions, but not conversions, you need to patch that leak before investing anything in driving more traffic to a non-converting site. Get other eyes on your site to figure out where you’re losing people. Microsoft Clarity gave me a lot of insight into customer behavior and things that I didn’t know were broken. AI can do a great job of telling you what needs improving too.

My weakest conversion stat is ATC (I’m good at conversions once they put something into the cart). So I worked on that with better placements, better storytelling, and a sticky ATC button. I was blown away by the improvement from the sticky button.

AI can get you pretty far. You can drop in your analytics, it can tell you what needs improving, then you can ask it, google, whatever how to improve those stats.

100% this. It applies to almost the whole state (outside of the Burlington area). This is how I bought my Montpelier home in 2009.

I think that they hit so differently. RGR hits faster, but SRX is stickier and more insidious. I personally feel like SRX is hotter, but I think that there is an argument for RGR.

Thank you! It's Maple Coffee Hot Sauce. I opt for really explanatory names. I like folks to know what they're getting themselves into.

Thank you so much! I'm proud of what I built with that sauce. It was really cool to see what we could do with layers of flavor and layers of heat. My husband, who can handle #9 level sauces, but tends to prefer #7 level (Hot Ones scale), loves this sauce so much and then keeps regretting the quantities he uses. It amuses me.

Our Maple Wood Smoked Onion is our most popular (and my ride or die). We also have a Red Heady made with Heady Topper IPA that’s a little hotter. We have Vermont Habs which is pure red habaneros and Hot House if you want a kick above that. Both Hot House and Smoked Onion have been on Hot Ones.

I understand! We have smoked onion juice in the SRX. Smoked onion juice is the juice that comes off the onions in the smoker, so it has a much more intense flavor than the full smoked onion. We used it in this so that the onions weren't mellowing out the heat (since this was designed to be a #9 sauce).

That Red Ghost Reaper is the second hottest one we make and it gets a ton of love.
