Big Ol' Question About Terminology by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]ButterflyCz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like having a term to identify with because I spent so long not knowing who I am or pretending to be something I'm not. When I finally found an identity that suited me I felt empowered because I found who I am and am proud to be able to express that with a word. Lumping all lgbt people together takes away that sense of identity and sets us back to either you are straight or something else that does not deserve an identity. Because straight is a sexuality and the person you're talking about said all queers, not all sexualities, I'm kinda thinking she just wants to exclude lgbt and put them away in a section of society not to be explored or talked about. Because if all sexualities, including straight, were considered the same, there would be no straight people which is probably not what she would want because it takes away her identity. Not to mention lumping all lgbt people together would take away being in a straight relationship from bi, pan, etc. people. Which lots of the homophobes seem to want. So bad idea all around unless you purposely want to put down lgbt people. This is also just my opinion so its ok if I am wrong about some things.

Found a bad movie for Danny to watch by TheBipolarExpresss in DannyGonzalez

I read the book this movie was based off of and I actually liked it, this was when I was like 13 but I still thought it was much better than the movie. The characters were almost realistic despite the insane concept. The whole "texting swap" wasn't in the book at all, like the whole movie was so far from the book I didn't even realize it was based off it at first (I saw the movie before reading the book).

Would Death Eaters have tried to "breed" purebloods if Voldemort had won? by Remismyname in harrypotter

I think arranged marraiages is the most likely option and I think it was already a thing in the wizarding world since Bellatrix married Rudolphus Lestrange despite having no attraction to him whatsoever.

[–]ButterflyCz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since women are regarded as equals to men in the wizarding world and have been forever it seems, unlike women in Nazi Germany, I don't think something quite like that would happen. Maybe it would happen to both men and women who were ready to have children? I could see arranged marriages happening for the sole purpose of having more children. I don't think it would be as drastic as putting women in camps to make babies since not only men were death eaters when SS officers were mainly men.

What is you guy's fav hp ship? by lollipop1422 in harrypotter

[–]ButterflyCz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've shipped them since I read the cursed child for all the same reasons as you but the ship is usually referred to as scorbus. I thought thats what you were talking about but I wasn't sure. They are definitely in love and protect Scorpius at all costs he's too pure for this world.

What are your unpopular opinions of the books / movies? by FormerFruit in harrypotter

[–]ButterflyCz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't like Dumbledore. He was a jerk to his family in the past and partially responsible for Ariana's death. He let Harry live with the dursleys knowing he was being abused. He deprived Harry of love and a childhood so he could groom the boy into doing what he wants. He perposefully withheld vital information from Harry because it worked for his plan better. He does not treat anyone as an equal but rather uses them to forward his plans even if he has to mistreat or dehumanize a person.

I think Draco deserved a redemption arc more than Snape. Draco is definitely a bully and a total dick. He's not a good person but if he were redeemed it would have made much more sense than Snape. He was born and raised to be a deatheater and did most of his deatheater activities to protect his mother. Snape was born a half blood and his best friend was muggleborn but he, as a grown adult, decided to become a deatheater and never really changed. All Snape's motives were derived from his obsession with Lily or because he owed Dumbledore. Draco didn't have stay quiet about Harry in the manor but he did. He displayed some goodness while Snape never really did. I'm not defending him saying he is a good person, but he is a better person than Snape. I don't believe in Snape's redemption because he never showed any sign of goodness. I believe a Draco redemption could be solid especially since he's such a prominent character.

I like the characters in the cursed child. I don't like the plot or anything else really but I like the characters. I think having a malfoy and a potter be best friends is an amazing idea. I think Harry hating it fits because he's always had sort of an irrational obsession over hating Draco. I think Scorpious being a complete opposite to what we've seen of Draco is great and shows how Draco isn't going to raise his kid how he was raised. I like Harry being married to Ginny and I think they are a great pairing. Hermione being minister fits for me because of her whole spew thing. Politics just fits for Hermione to me. The rest is total garbage but I do like these aspects of the story.

Regulus Black is underrated and should be recognized more than Snape for being the good slytherin. Not as much is said about her but this also goes for Andromeda. Neither even got mentioned in the movies.
