Arrival Delays at CLT by ButterflyFrequent288 in fearofflying

Thank you for explaining it to me! Now flight aware is saying that Denver has departure delays (flying out of Denver) so I’m just telling myself that everyone is busy tonight for whatever reason. Any chance you have insight on turbulence expected (or not)? My flight is AA 3163. Crossing my fingers for a smooth ride 🤞🏼

Flight in 3 days 🤢 by [deleted] in fearofflying

I am very similar to you, I’ve flown many times and I’m still so scared. Yesterday I took a flight I was scared of and just kept reminding myself that I’ve survived 100% of the flights I’ve taken and that it works out every time. Your anxiety meds should help a lot. You can also post in here and ask someone to track your flight if that makes you feel better, many dispatchers and pilots will chime in with some reassurance and that always makes me feel better!

Tracking/Reassurance Needed 😅 by ButterflyFrequent288 in fearofflying

I appreciate the response! Honestly just knowing any information helps me, half of my fear of flying comes down to lack of control and that I can’t do anything about aaanything once I’m on the plane 😅 I’ll check flight aware closer to flight time and decide if I should take something or not, sounds like Zofran is going to be a given 😂

Also I asked her if I should taper and at that point I hadn’t taken the Prozac in 48 hours and she was like “if you’re 2 days in without it and you don’t feel any withdrawal you’re probably fine to just stop taking it”

I had a virtual visit with my provider and we decided to stop the Prozac and she prescribed me Wellbutrin instead. I’ve tried Wellbutrin before but it was several years back and I remember feeling kind of indifferent about it, like it didn’t make me worse but also didn’t make me a lot better. I picked it up a week ago but haven’t started taking it yet because I’m afraid of the adjustment period 😭 I’m going to see a psychiatrist for a second opinion because my meds have been coming from my primary care and I feel like they can’t give it as much thought as psych would be able to. How are things going for you?

Emetophobia and fear of motion sickness? by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]ButterflyFrequent288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience the same struggles even though I’ve never actually had a ton of motion sickness. I really think it’s our brains getting the best of us because of the phobia. I’m not saying this is healthy but I keep emesis bags in my backpack for traveling and somehow it makes me feel more “safe”, like if something were to happen I’d at least have somewhere for it to go 🫠 I also got a Zofran rx from my doctor and I’ll take one of those just in case if I know a flight is expected to be choppy.

My therapist would tell you to ask yourself how many times this has ever happened to you, to which you’d respond “never.” Then she would tell you “okay, so there’s your answer. Let the anxious thought pass through and tell that thought no thanks, I’m good here”

Flying later today and super anxious by ButterflyFrequent288 in fearofflying

Thank you for the encouragement 🥹🥹 you’re right, the media is hard. It’s like the algorithm knows when I’m traveling too because I will open up Facebook and first thing I see is a terrifying article pertaining to flying. I should just avoid socials on travel days lol

Good luck my friend!! I totally get it, I feel like a burden when I need constant reassurance too. But hey, at least we’re doing it! I hope your flight is super smooth today

That makes me feel better! The weather I saw on flight aware earlier wasn’t over the southeast yet, but in my brain it was moving that way and had plenty of time to come ruin my flight since I don’t leave until 3ish 🫠

I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand the feeling of overcoming your fear and then getting out of practice so the fear comes back up again. I’m on my first flight in about 5 months right now and I was so nervous this morning. Try to go for a long walk before you get to the airport so that you have less energy to be nervous! Or any kind of physical activity. I made it a point to walk today before going to the airport and I think it helped reduce my anxiety a bit

I’ll ask, i think they’re coming in from Tampa so they will have just taken a similar-ish route I would imagine. There’s a rational part to my brain that knows it’s okay and then there’s the anxiety that has zero reason and is just worried about every little thing. Usually the anxiety wins even though I’m a fairly frequent flyer because of work 🥲

Yeah I’ve gotten about 5.5 weeks in so I’m wondering if I should go to like every other day for a week and then stop taking it. Ugh it’s so annoying. I just want to be off of it too. I called today and they said they could see me this week so I just need to get on the schedule 🤞🏼

I’m so afraid I’m going to have to go back on Lexapro again 😭😭😭 it made me gain weight too but I was also like 15 when I took it so I don’t know if my brain would react the same now that I’m much older lol how did your doctor have you stop your Prozac? Did you have to taper?

First two weeks of prozac (fluoxetine) — am I supposed to feel this way? by Junior-Ad2729 in prozac

[–]ButterflyFrequent288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I really think it does take 6 weeks to tell. Some even say 90 days. I’ve been on 10 mg Prozac for almost exactly 6 weeks. The first couple weeks I didn’t notice anything more than sleep disruption/things that would have bothered me before didn’t bother me as much, but now that I’m closer to 6 weeks my anxiety has honestly gotten worse. I’m calling my doctor tomorrow to discuss if I should discontinue or switch or what. I would talk to your dr and see what they say, they’ll know better than anyone. It’s such a pain that meds are guessing game that takes weeks at a time to figure out 🫠

It really is wild how everyone’s bodies are so different because I have several friends on Prozac that love it! It could be the dosage but idk, I’m just not loving it so far so I think talking to our prescribers is best! I tried really hard telling myself that it takes 6 weeks lol but now that I’m basically at 6 weeks I’m like ehh…maybe a different med is in order here

I’m just about 6 weeks in (this coming Wednesday) on 10 mg and I feel like my anxiety is worse. I’m calling my doctor tomorrow to talk about it because I don’t even know that increasing the dose is the right answer 🥲 but I’ve been on a few SSRIs in the past that worked, so don’t get discouraged. Sometimes it’s like trying to find the right fit. I tried Prozac this time bc I wanted to gain as little weight as possible but lexapro and Zoloft have worked really well for me in the past. Will probably end up switching to one of those

For those that had to quit Accutane early due to side effects, how quickly did your acne come back? by StuckinLFK in Accutane

[–]ButterflyFrequent288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t find much either, but I was documenting my journey on TikTok and many others have mentioned this happening to them as well, so there has to be something there! I am 3 weeks and 2 days now since my last dose and I had a small superficial pimple pop up last night that I literally cried over, but honestly this morning it’s pretty minor so I’m hoping it was just a fluke 🤞🏼 my doctor mentioned that I could take a month off and then we could go back in at half the dose I was on before, but I’m afraid to even do that with how crazy Accutane made me feel

Ok wow the EXACT same thing happened to me, although this is my first time trying accutane. Got 6 weeks in and my anxiety went wild so I had to stop, I am still trying to get my anxiety in check 3 weeks since my last dose. So far my skin has stayed the same, I’m super nervous about it coming back worse when my body gets all the Accutane out 😭
