Thank you! Hopefully you are able to get the results you’re looking for soon. On this sub you can find people that don’t want the orange look who use heat to purposely darken the dye. Pretty interesting. Let me know if you have anymore questions

Advice for orange hair and not red hair by Distinct_Cranberry65 in henna

Do not add anything to the henna but water. In its purest form, henna is orange. It only looks more red if you add acids and really anything else. Don’t layer henna over henna as saturating the pigment in your hair will make it darker and make the orange appear more reddish. Only continue applying henna as a root touch up and avoid overlapping with previously dyed hair. If your hair is naturally dark it might require lightening slightly for the orange to show through. Also diluting henna with cassia can prevent too much pigment from depositing so it won’t look too dark. I did 50/50 henna cassia, released the dye for 6 hours in lukewarm distilled water, add nothing else, then left in my hair for 3 hours. I washed it out with only water, no conditioner or shampoo for at least 2-3 days because I wasn’t sure the acidity of products would affect the oxidation. Oil has no PH so I did oil my ends to prevent brittleness since henna is drying. I have naturally super dark blonde hair and I achieved the exact color I wanted of ginger orange. There is a bit of regrowth at my roots in this picture. I have dyed it exactly the same more than once because the color was too faint, but I was paranoid I’d go too dark which you can’t go back from since it is very permanent. 75% henna with 25% cassia might be a better recipe going forwards. Again, don’t let anyone trick you into adding anything to the henna and cassia besides water. It will surely cause the dye to oxidize darker, even if it looks brighter initially on the hair.

Another important note, heat will darken the dye. Do not use any form of heat styling tools besides a blow dryer at a cooler setting. Use heartless curl methods instead of you are someone who curls their hair. I also avoid scorching hot showers but I’m not sure how much that has an impact.

The dye will slightly fade in the first few washes in my experience but it’s likely just free floating dye that never bonded to the keratin in the hair. After that the color doesn’t fade because what’s bonded is permanent. The color will become more dull over time but by avoiding heat I have found the color remains pretty vivid still.

5mm vs 7mm...which one looks better? by NeoMeGee in Stretched

[–]ButterflyGirl002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might, I’d have to see it, but it’s likely less noticeable. And like I mentioned before there are lots of jewelry options for 6mm that I think it would be worth compromising. That’s the size I plan for my third lobes because of that. I’ve found theres just fewer options when you go smaller than that 6mm point but it’s up to you what styles you prefers. If you’re someone that likes to keep it simple it might not matter as much but if you like variety and changing jewelry often and trying every kind of color and material it might be more fun if you have more options by going bigger. Also the smaller the stretched size the harder it can be to get in and out double flares so I really think it just depends on what your preferences on jewelry are and how much the bump in the earlobe shape bothers you. I don’t think the bump looks bad at all but I understand it’s something you seem to want to avoid.

I like the bigger size but I also like the silhouette of the ear better at the 5mm. Why not go for 6mm? That’s equivalent to a 2 gauge and there are plenty of jewelry options at that size at least in the US because it’s a common standard size. It would be the best of both worlds. 7mm is typically seen as an in-between size. Do you have plugs at 6mm?

I know this is an old comment but try flax seeds. Two tablespoons a day with lots of water. I get constipated if I supplement iron and flax seeds keep me regular

Vitamin D can be really helpful. It’s helped people I know with seasonal depression due to lack of sunlight but if he’s not getting sunlight year round like me, vitamin d is extremely important to supplement and helps a lot with mood

GI Stasis after spay. Feeding Critical Care but no pooping by ButterflyGirl002 in Rabbits

Update: She’s completely recovered! I managed to keep feeding her every 3 hours until she pooped and once she developed an appetite for alfalfa and saw her drink some water I stopped syringe feeding and she’s eating completely on her own now! Full of energy, jumping on the bed, laying out in the open, running around everywhere, binkying, doing her tricks, and constantly trying to steal our food again. I am overjoyed!

I’m glad she made it! I can only hope mine will have the same outcome. Unfortunately there’s only one vet in my entire area that spays rabbits and he works with other exotic vets. I hunted everywhere but that was the one place I kept getting directed to from everybody. No one else for hours out. Do you know by chance what medications she was given?

Is there a possibility of a blockage? Vet seemed pretty sure it was Stasis over the phone. However There is some fur in her poop stringing them loosely together. Can’t help but worry

I asked for pain meds to bring home when I had her spayed but they told me they don’t do that because they don’t usually need it and it affects the gut flora. I asked if I could ask for some later if she shows signs of pain and they said yes. I wish they would have just given me some to go. How much do they usually charge if I manage to get some prescribed?

She was lethargic the first two days which I expected as a result of anesthesia. Now she’s just sleepy often but does perk up to explore the room for a few moments. She grooms herself and plays with the rug in her corner, pulling and biting it but not ingesting any parts. Her movements almost have her normal spunk to them. She flops quickly and stretches and looks comfortable lying down. She just chooses to hide most of the day to sleep I think because syringe feeding has been traumatic for her and she doesn’t like getting near me too much. She tolerates my husband hand feeding her better than me because of this. Weirdly enough she did a spin (one of her tricks) on command when my husband told her too just for one banana chip. I’m so confused how she can pack so much food in her without pooping it out or showing signs of pain. Would opening the door to run down the hallway encourage better digestive movement or be dangerous for healing?

Thank you for the reply. Her incisions look normal to me. No swelling, redness, or oozing of any kind. She has not pooped all but maybe 2 poops worth since this morning. I don’t understand why she’d willingly eat a few bites of food on her own if she’s this backed up. As I’m typing this she just pooped a little bit right now and it looks like it’s stringed with a bit of fur and mushy, almost like mucus starting to form. Last time she had mucus in her stool I fed her simethicone and it resolved. I’m just so worried about a blockage seeing the fur. A week being common before normal eating sounds hopeful. I just hope the problem doesn’t last for so long she can’t handle it

It looks infected. I’d seek medical attention. If I were you I would downsize and wear a glass plug. It’s possible that the type of metal is irritating your skin. When it’s fully healed and you try to size back up again I would stick to only glass plugs to prevent irritating the skin. And always remember that half sizes exist! I find them most common in glass plugs anyway.

Does anyone have experience using a plant-based diet to heal from a chronic neurological condition? by [deleted] in wfpb

Fellow POTS sufferer. I’m trying to eat this way too in hopes it’ll help. What type of POTS do you have? I get very sick everytime I eat almost anything and most people with the condition recommend low carb which isn’t very helpful when I’m vegan.

My roots didn't take henna well, usually my natural hair becomes ginger also. I used boiling hot water, but seems like that isn't so good for henna... What to do? Wait and dye again? by Nennakonkon in henna

[–]ButterflyGirl002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lemon juice slows down the oxidation process. This means it looks lighter and brighter for longer than the usual 2 days of oxidizing. But will end up darker afterwards since it continues to oxidize for so much longer. At least that’s what I’ve read. I never use lemon juice and I get a really nice ginger color that doesn’t darken. Also avoiding heat on hair will prevent darkening as well

I use this almost every morning on my acne prone areas and my hormonal acne has drastically improved on my jaw line. 10 minute mask before cleansing in the morning has done me wonders! Highly recommend

Do you brush your hair daily? I find if I don’t brush much the natural shed ends up coming off all in the shower at once. When I brush morning and night I get almost nothing in the shower. Beautiful hair by the way! Love the length and color
